What we can show you for Harlow

Here is what our packing services work around Harlow looks like in practice.

  • Harlow access and housing notes

CM17, CM18, CM19, CM20 housing stock and loading reality, written for Harlow rather than the county.

Packing Services in Harlow: what actually matters here

A Gibberd-planned new town of green wedges and self-contained neighbourhoods, with terraces and low-rise flats at Staple Tye and Bush Fair and newer housing at Newhall.

The housing stock is 1950s new-town terraces, walk-up flats without lifts, and the modern Newhall development, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a packing services job.

Walk-up blocks with three or four storeys and no lift are common, so we quote stair carries by floor rather than adding a surprise on the day, and hatchings on the estate roads limit where a Luton can wait.

The packing services quote for a Harlow address is built from the load itself — what is going, how far it is carried, and what has to be protected on the way out.

We treat Harlow as one service area: Harlow town centre, Old Harlow and Staple Tye and the rest of CM17, CM18 and CM19 share the same packing services price list and the same crews.

Harlow sits on a round that already includes epping, chelmsford and braintree, which is why a packing services slot here rarely needs a week's notice.

Harlow is one of the larger settlements in the county; the streets around The Lawn — Britain's first residential tower block are the ones where we most often check loading arrangements in advance.

Further out, Bush Fair, Church Langley, Newhall and Katherines sit inside the same footprint — same crews, same fixed packing services pricing.

If your packing services job runs between Harlow and loughton and saffron-walden, it is still one booking and one price — we do not split a local job across two quotes.

We ask for the full Harlow address rather than just CM17, because the loading point is what sets the packing services time on site.

Our Harlow coverage is recorded down to Harlow town centre (CM20), Old Harlow (CM17) and Staple Tye (CM18), which is how we judge access and timing for a packing services slot.

The Harlow sheet lists 12 areas; Harlow town centre and Netteswell sit at opposite ends of it, and the packing services price is the same across all of them.

If the Harlow diary is full on the day you want, the same crew is usually in epping or chelmsford that week, so the wait is days rather than weeks.

What a packing services job includes

Packing is priced two ways so you only buy what you need: per packer per hour — £30 for one, £55 for two, with a two-hour minimum — or as a fixed price by property size, from £180 for a studio or one-bed, £280 for a two-bed and £420 for a three-bed. Materials are charged at cost, a two-bed materials pack starts at £68, and empty cartons are collected free after the move. Unpacking at the new address is charged the same hourly way, with boxes flattened and taken away.

Materials

  • Double-wall cartons, tissue paper, bubble wrap and tape supplied and charged at cost
  • Wardrobe cartons so hanging clothes travel on the rail
  • Purpose-made cartons for pictures, mirrors, TVs and lamps
  • Mattress bags and protective covers for soft furnishings

The pack

  • Room-by-room packing with a numbered inventory as we go
  • Every carton labelled with its room and its contents, not just a room name
  • China, glass and stemware individually wrapped and packed on edge rather than stacked flat
  • Electronics packed with their cables, and screens boxed upright
  • A clearly marked essentials box kept back for the first night

Options

  • Fragile-only pack for the kitchen and glassware, from £120, when you are doing the rest yourself
  • Full pack the day before the move so loading starts on time
  • Unpacking at the new address at £30 per hour, with cartons flattened and removed
  • Free collection of empty cartons after you have finished unpacking

What changes the price on a packing services job

  • We do not pack fuel, aerosols under pressure, paint or gas bottles, and open food and plants are best moved by you in the car.
  • Packing takes longer than people expect. A studio is typically four to six hours for one packer and a family home a full day for two, which is why the fixed prices are set by property size rather than by an optimistic hour count.
  • The kitchen is the room that decides the timings — glassware, china and small appliances are slow, careful work, and it is the room most often left to the last hour by self-packers.
  • Boxes you packed yourself are still covered for transit, but we cannot verify the contents or how they were wrapped; where a fragile item matters, let us pack it and it is documented on the inventory.
  • Materials are at cost, not a profit line, so over-ordering costs you money for no benefit — we would rather bring a realistic quantity and top up than sell you a pallet of cartons.

Really pleased with our house move. The guys came on time, loaded everything carefully like a huge jigsaw! About Harlow

Harlow was laid out by Frederick Gibberd as neighbourhoods separated by green wedges, and the plan still decides how a job runs. Staple Tye, Bush Fair, Katherines and Netteswell carry 1950s terraces and low-rise walk-up flats; Church Langley and Newhall are modern estate and apartment housing; Old Harlow keeps the pre-new-town village core with narrow frontages and period joinery. Three different construction eras means three different sets of fixings and three different load routes.

The recurring access issue is the walk-up block: three or four storeys, no lift, and a stairwell with a half-landing turn that decides whether a wardrobe goes up assembled or flat. We quote those carries by floor so the price is settled before the crew arrives, and hatched markings on the estate roads limit where a Luton can legally wait, which we check on the same survey. Clearances leave under our own carrier licence with a transfer note. Harlow crews also cover Epping, Waltham Abbey, Sawbridgeworth-side addresses and the Bishop's Stortford fringe.

Common questions

Harlow questions, answered.

  • How much does packing services cost in Harlow?

Packing Services in Harlow (CM17, CM18, CM19, CM20) starts from £45 per hour. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Harlow usually means walk-up blocks with three or four storeys and no lift are common, so we quote stair carries by floor rather than adding a surprise on the day, and hatchings on the estate roads limit where a Luton can wait.

  • Do you cover the whole of Harlow?

Yes — every CM17 and CM18 and CM19 and CM20 street, plus the surrounding Essex towns. Crews are routed within the county rather than dispatched from London, so short-notice slots are realistic.

  • Are you insured for packing services work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book packing services in Harlow?

Same-week slots are standard in Harlow, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • Should I pay for packing or do it myself?

Do the wardrobes and the books yourself if you have the time; get the kitchen, the glassware and anything breakable packed properly. A fragile-only pack from £120 buys most of the protection for a fraction of the full-pack price.

  • How many boxes will I need?

We estimate from the survey and bring what the property size suggests — a two-bed materials pack starts at £68 — then top up if needed. Materials are charged at cost, so you pay for what you actually use.

  • Do you take the empty boxes away?

Yes. Empty cartons are collected free after the move, and if you book unpacking they are flattened and taken away on the same visit.
