TV Wall Mounting across Essex

The wall decides this job, and Essex has every kind: dot-and-dab plasterboard over block on the Chelmsford and Colchester new builds, soft Victorian brick in Southend and Colchester terraces, and lath, cob or timber frame in the Saffron Walden and Coggeshall cottages.

Why Essex customers book us

Wall identified before anything is drilled

We detect and probe first. A 65-inch screen on the wrong fixing in a dot-and-dab cavity is a failure waiting for a warm evening.

Cables genuinely out of sight

Power and HDMI dropped inside the wall where construction allows, or run in a discreet trunking that is painted to match rather than left silver.

Levelled, tested and handed back working

Bracket levelled, screen mounted, sources reconnected and the picture checked before we leave — not left for you to plug in.

Soundbars, shelves and consoles too

Soundbar brackets, floating AV shelves and console storage fitted in the same visit at the hourly rate.

How booking works

  1. 1

Tell us the screen and the wall

Screen size, bracket type if you already have one, and a photo of the wall. That is enough for a firm price.

  2. 2

We detect, agree the height, then drill

Nothing goes into a wall until cables and pipes are located and you have agreed the exact position.

  3. 3

    Mount, conceal, test

Levelled, cables hidden, sources reconnected, and the area cleaned before we leave.

TV Wall Mounting in Essex

Essex's newer housing is where most mounting mistakes happen. Dot-and-dab plasterboard on the estates around Chelmsford, Colchester, Braintree and Basildon looks solid to a knuckle test but leaves a 20 to 40mm void, and a plasterboard plug in that cavity will eventually let a heavy screen sag or pull out. The correct fix is a long anchor into the block behind, set to the right depth so the bracket sits tight against the board rather than crushing it.

Older Essex stock brings the opposite problem. Victorian terraces in Colchester, Southend and Chelmsford often have soft lime mortar and shallow chimney-breast masonry where drilling into a joint is safer than into a brick face; the timber-framed and lath-and-plaster properties of the north-west of the county need the fixing to land in the stud, which is rarely where the ideal viewing height suggests. In both cases we adjust the plan to the structure and explain the compromise rather than hiding it behind the screen.

Essex questions

TV Wall Mounting in Essex — your questions.

  • Can you hide the cables inside the wall?

On plasterboard and most stud walls, yes — power and HDMI dropped behind the board. On solid masonry it means chasing and making good, which we quote separately. Where neither is sensible we fit paintable trunking rather than leaving cables hanging.

  • Can you mount a TV above a fireplace?

Usually, if the chimney breast is sound and the heat source is not a live open fire. We check the masonry and the flue arrangement first, and we will say if the height will be uncomfortable to watch rather than just fitting it.

  • Do you supply the bracket?

We can, matched to your screen weight and VESA pattern, or we fit one you have already bought. If yours is under-rated for the screen, we will tell you before it goes on the wall.

  • Will you take the old TV away?

Yes — screens go out under our waste carrier licence through WEEE-compliant routes, with a transfer note. That avoids the Essex tip booking and permit rules entirely.

  • Can you mount on a dot-and-dab or stud wall?

Yes, and it is the most common Essex wall we work on. It needs the right anchor into the block behind, or a fixing landed in the stud — not a standard plasterboard plug.
