Barbecue grates and burners cleaned and rebuilt in a Greater Manchester garden
Cast grates, flame tamers and burner tubes soak in the van's heated tank; the firebox and grease tray are scraped and degreased by hand.

Carbon, rendered fat and a winter of Manchester rain

A barbecue left under a cover from September to May is doing two things at once: rendering old fat in the firebox and rusting the burner tubes from the inside out. By the first warm weekend the grates are welded with carbon, the ignition is unreliable, and the flare-ups people blame on the meat are actually a grease tray that has never been emptied.

We strip the grill on site, soak the grates, flame tamers and burner tubes in the heated tank, scrape and degrease the firebox and lid, clear each burner port with a purpose-made tool, wash the grease tray, and rebuild. Gas models are leak-checked at the hose and regulator and lit on every burner before hand-back.

  • Cooking grates, warming rack and flame tamers dip-tanked
  • Burner tubes removed, ports cleared and spiders checked
  • Firebox scraped, degreased and old ash or debris removed
  • Lid and thermometer cleaned inside and out, carbon flakes removed
  • Grease tray and catch cup emptied, washed and refitted
  • Gas hose and regulator leak-checked, every burner lit and tested

How a BBQ clean works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the grill

Gas, charcoal, kamado or built-in outdoor kitchen, plus the number of burners.

  2. Step 2

    Strip on site

Grates, tamers and burner tubes come out into the heated non-caustic tank in the van.

  3. Step 3

    Degrease the body

Firebox, lid, ash pan and grease tray scraped and degreased; ports cleared individually.

  4. Step 4

    Rebuild and test

Parts refitted, gas connection leak-checked, all burners lit and the grill left cook-ready.

Two to three hours for a standard gas grill or kettle; longer for a built-in outdoor kitchen with a side burner.

Your BBQ clean checklist

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the grill is cold and has not been lit that day
  • Turn the gas bottle off at the valve
  • Clear the patio space around the grill for the strip-down
  • Tell us the make, fuel type and number of burners

Access notes

  • Confirm side or rear garden access — parts travel to the van
  • Flag apartment terraces and roof gardens that need lift access
  • Tell us if the grill is built into masonry and cannot be moved

Keeping it cook-ready

  • Burn off and brush the grates while still hot after cooking
  • Empty the grease tray every few cooks, not once a season
  • Cover the grill only once it is completely cold and dry

Spring reopening across Trafford and Stockport gardens

Bookings spike in late April around Hale, Timperley, Sale, Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme as gardens come back into use. Getting a grill stripped before the first bank holiday beats scrubbing grates on the day, and it is when burner corrosion is easiest to catch cheaply.

Covered grills and Manchester rain

Nine months under a cover in this climate traps condensation against steel. Burner tubes corrode from the inside and spiders nest in the venturi, which is the usual cause of a grill that lights on one burner only. We check both as standard and tell you honestly if a burner needs replacing rather than cleaning.

Roof terraces and shared courtyards in Ancoats and the Quays

Compact grills on apartment terraces around Ancoats, New Islington and Salford Quays are cleaned in place with sheeting down, and parts are carried to the van rather than soaked on a neighbour's decking. Tell us about lift access when you book and we plan the run.

BBQ cleaning FAQs

  • How much does BBQ cleaning cost in Greater Manchester?

A standard three- or four-burner gas grill or a charcoal kettle starts at £65. Six-burner grills, kamados and built-in outdoor kitchens are quoted from £95 because there is far more cast metal to soak.

  • Do you clean at my address?

Yes. The dip tank travels in the van, so the grill never leaves your garden. Parts are carried out, soaked and brought back for the rebuild.

  • Is the cleaning food-safe?

Yes. We use non-caustic, food-safe products, rinse every part thoroughly and dry it before refitting. There is no chemical residue on the cooking surfaces.

  • My grill only lights on one burner. Will cleaning help?

Very often. Blocked ports and spider nests in the venturi tubes are the usual cause. We clear both and light-test each burner, and if a tube has corroded through we tell you which part to order rather than charging for a fix that will not hold.

  • Can you clean a kamado or ceramic grill?

Yes, with a method suited to ceramic: no pressure washing, no harsh chemicals on the porous interior, and the felt gasket protected throughout.

  • When is the best time to book?

Late March to early May, before the first warm weekend fills the diary, or October as an end-of-season service so the grill is stored clean and dry.

  • Do you check the gas connection?

We leak-check the hose and regulator with a soap test and light every burner. Anything beyond that is a Gas Safe job and we will say so plainly.

  • Which areas do you cover?

All 115 Greater Manchester areas across the ten boroughs. Choose your area from the coverage list below.
