Extraction is the most neglected appliance in the kitchen. A mesh filter that has never been degreased can hold a surprising amount of liquid fat directly above an open flame, and the loss of airflow pushes cooking moisture into the room — which is where the damp, greasy film on nearby wall tiles and ceilings comes from.
We take the filters out and soak them, clean the canopy inside and out, degrease the impeller and fan housing where the design allows access, clear the light lenses, and check whether the unit is ducted or recirculating. Recirculating carbon cartridges are consumables: washing them does nothing, so we fit new ones and show you the old.

Extractor cleaning is from £35 when booked with an oven or cooker clean. Replacement carbon cartridges and mesh filters are supplied at cost with the receipt.
Apartments around Deansgate, Ancoats, MediaCityUK and Salford Quays are almost all recirculating — there is no external duct to vent through. That makes the carbon cartridge the only thing removing odour, and it is the part almost nobody replaces. We carry common sizes and fit them on the visit.
Rainfall is higher along the eastern edge towards Mossley, Uppermill, Littleborough and Whitworth, and kitchens there struggle to shed moisture in winter. Restoring extraction airflow is the cheapest single improvement to condensation on kitchen windows and the mould that follows it.
Licensed HMOs in Rusholme, Longsight, Fallowfield and Levenshulme are inspected on kitchen ventilation. A photographed filter change and a run-test on every speed gives you something concrete for the licence file rather than an unevidenced claim.

Where the impeller and housing are reachable without dismantling the electrics, yes. On sealed motor units we clean everything accessible and tell you exactly what is behind the sealed panel.
Replaced. Carbon cartridges work by adsorption and are spent once saturated — washing them achieves nothing. We fit new ones and hand you the old cartridge so you can see the difference.
Mesh grease filters every two to three months in a household that cooks daily, and carbon cartridges roughly every six months. Heavy frying shortens both intervals considerably.
It is the main cause. Once airflow is restored, cooking aerosols leave the room instead of settling on tiles, ceilings and cupboard doors.
Yes. Island hoods need step access and downdraft units need the cassette lifted, so tell us which you have when booking and we allow the extra time.
