Removals in Unsworth

Surveyed first, fixed second

Booking a removal company in Unsworth? You get a survey by video or in person, a written fixed quote, protection materials on the day and a completion-day sequence that assumes the keys will be late. Settled residential district between Whitefield and Bury, built around Unsworth Pole and Hollins.

Every Unsworth removal is covered by goods in transit and £5m public liability, and every crew member is ID- and reference-checked. Nothing on the invoice appears that was not on the quote unless you add items on the day.

Only moving a part-load? Man with a van in Unsworth starts at £45 an hour. For the full moving line-up, see moving services in Unsworth.

What the fixed price covers

What is included in Unsworth

Survey and fixed quote

A video or in-person survey of your Unsworth home, then one written fixed price covering crew, van, mileage and materials.

Protection materials supplied

Wardrobe cartons, mattress bags, sofa covers, blankets, floor runners and door jamb protection — delivered with the van, no hire charge.

Dismantle and reassemble

Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and standard flat-pack come apart and go back together at the new address as part of the quote.

Completion-day sequencing

Loaded before keys drop, with Bury Council permit bays booked at both ends so a late release does not cost you an extra day.

Chain-delay van hold

If completion slips, the load stays sealed in a secure depot overnight for a fixed fee and delivers first thing — no unloading onto a driveway.

Fully insured crew

Goods-in-transit cover on every Unsworth load, £5m public liability, and vetted crew who move homes full time rather than as casual labour.

Move sizes

Homes we move in Unsworth

2-bed flats and houses

One van, two crew, most of a working day including reassembly. Roughly 3,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

3-bed family homes

Large van, three crew, a full day with lofts, garages and garden gear. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

4+ bed and detached

Two vans, four crew, survey-led fixed price and a staged load plan. With Unsworth drives and side access the van gets close, so volume rather than carry sets the day.

Part-house and downsizing

Half the home to the new address, the rest to storage or clearance. Local context matters here: the pole marks a medieval boundary; the district filled with interwar and postwar semis as bury and whitefield merged, which is why the access varies so much between neighbouring streets.

Chain and completion moves

Loaded early, held if keys slip, delivered the moment they land. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

Specialist items

Pianos, safes, American fridges, gym kit and glass units, quoted at survey. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

Completion day, planned

Your Unsworth moving day timeline

  1. Step 1

  2. Step 2

    1 week out

Permit bays and lift bookings confirmed at both ends; materials dropped off. Local context matters here: the pole marks a medieval boundary; the district filled with interwar and postwar semis as bury and whitefield merged, which is why the access varies so much between neighbouring streets.

  3. Step 3

    Moving day, 8am

Crew arrives, protection down, dismantling starts, van loaded in room order. Roughly 3,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

  4. Step 4

    Keys released

Drive, unload to the room you label, rebuild beds and wardrobes, walk-through. Roughly 3,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

Access, parking and timing

Loading in Unsworth: what the crew plans for

1930s and 1950s semis with drives and long gardens, plus modern detached infill off Sunny Bank Road. That stock, the street it sits on and the Bury Council rules over it decide how long the day takes — so all three are settled at survey, not on the morning.

The four things that change the price

A five-minute video walk-through covering every room, the stairwell and the street is enough to fix the price. Anything you add later is quoted before we start, never after loading. Crews run from Bury, so Whitefield and Prestwich journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

Traffic and start times

Settled residential district between Whitefield and Bury, built around Unsworth Pole and Hollins. Loads out of here run best on an early start, before the Bury school and commuter peak closes the approach roads. We plan the route with that in mind rather than quoting an optimistic drive time. Unsworth Cricket Club, Parr Lane shops, a large Jewish community shared with Whitefield and Prestwich — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

Where the van stands on the day

Bury Council sets the loading, suspension and permit rules across M45. Where a bay suspension is needed near The Unsworth Pole and St George's Church, Unsworth we apply for it in advance and the cost sits in the written quote, not on an invoice afterwards. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

Doorways, stairs and lifts in Unsworth

Detached properties usually park the van on the drive, so labour goes into volume rather than carry distance: outbuildings, garden machinery and large-format furniture set the crew size. Crews run from Bury, so Whitefield and Prestwich journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

Booked here week to week

Jobs we run most often in Unsworth

If one of these looks like yours, say so when you enquire — we will quote it from the closest job we have already done in Bury rather than starting from a blank form.

From £595

Three- and four-bed family move

Larger van, three crew and a full day that includes the loft, the garage and the garden equipment most quotes forget until the crew is on site. Roughly 3,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

From £395

Two-bed move out of a four-bed detached

Van, two crew, protection materials, dismantling and reassembly — the standard Unsworth completion-day booking, fixed at survey from £395. Bury Council loading rules on the M45 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

No mileage surcharge

Moving within Bury

Short-hop moves to Whitefield or Prestwich run as a single loaded trip with no out-of-area surcharge, because Greater Manchester mileage is inside the fixed price. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

Chain-proof

Completion-day chain with a late key release

Loaded before keys drop and held sealed if the chain slips, with a fixed overnight fee instead of an unloaded driveway and a second day's labour. Crews run from Bury, so Whitefield and Prestwich journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

How it works in Unsworth

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the job

Send the property size, access notes and dates. Photos of anything awkward in Unsworth — stairs, narrow entries, permit bays — sharpen the price straight away.

  2. Step 2

    Get a fixed quote

We price your house removal in writing, usually the same day, with the labour, materials and disposal all itemised so nothing appears later.

  3. Step 3

    Choose your window

Pick the day and window that suits you. Rounds are built geographically around Unsworth, which is why the arrival time holds rather than drifting across the day.

  4. Step 4

    Finished and signed off

Work runs to the written spec, and the job isn't closed until it has been checked against it. If something on the list was missed, we return and put it right free.

House removals in Unsworth: local proof

Unsworth is not a generic Bury postcode to us: settled residential district between Whitefield and Bury, and that shapes how a house move in Unsworth actually runs here. The Pole marks a medieval boundary; the district filled with interwar and postwar semis as Bury and Whitefield merged — useful context when you are quoting surfaces, not square metres.

Our teams plan for one recurring Unsworth issue: clay soils and mature garden shade mean mossy block paving and green north gables on the older semis. Unsworth Cricket Club, Parr Lane shops, a large Jewish community shared with Whitefield and Prestwich — we plan access and arrival times around all of it. Coverage runs across M45 and the Bury streets either side of it.

Unsworth house removals FAQs

  • How much do house removals cost in Unsworth?

A two-bed move in Unsworth starts at £395, a three-bed at £595 and a four-bed or larger at £895. Those are fixed prices after a survey, and they include the van, the crew, mileage inside Greater Manchester, protection materials and dismantling. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

    Link to this answer
  • Do you survey the property before quoting in Unsworth?

Yes. Every Unsworth removal is surveyed by video call or in person so the quote reflects the real inventory, the floor, the stairwell and the parking. The figure we give you is the figure you pay unless items are added on the day. Bury Council loading rules on the M45 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

    Link to this answer
  • Do you dismantle and rebuild furniture in Unsworth?

Yes — beds, wardrobes, tables and standard flat-pack are dismantled at your Unsworth property and rebuilt at the destination as part of the fixed price. Fitted units and glass are noted at survey. Crews run from Bury, so Whitefield and Prestwich journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

    Link to this answer
  • How far ahead should I book a Unsworth removal?

Two to three weeks is comfortable, and end-of-month Fridays go first. We do hold short-notice slots back each week for completion dates that move. Booked most often on the M45 streets around The Unsworth Pole.

    Link to this answer
  • What happens if completion is delayed on moving day?

The van stays loaded and secure. We hold overnight at the depot for a fixed fee rather than unloading into a driveway, and deliver to your Unsworth address first thing once keys are released. Local context matters here: the pole marks a medieval boundary; the district filled with interwar and postwar semis as bury and whitefield merged, which is why the access varies so much between neighbouring streets.

    Link to this answer
  • Can you park a removal van near The Unsworth Pole and St George's Church, Unsworth?

Bury Council sets the loading and permit rules on these streets. Tell us at survey whether there is a driveway, a permit bay or a loading window and we arrange the bay in advance, so the crew carries rather than circles. Roughly 3,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

    Link to this answer
  • Do I need a parking permit or bay suspension in Unsworth?

Often, yes — Bury Council controls loading on most M45 streets. We check your street at survey and, where a suspension saves a long carry, we apply for it and show the cost in the quote before you accept it. Roughly 3,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

    Link to this answer
  • Can you handle the stairs and access in detached homes around The Unsworth Pole and St George's Church, Unsworth?

With a drive and side access the load runs quickly; the survey concentrates on garages, garden rooms and anything oversized that needs a second pair of hands or a leg-off. Send a short video of the stairwell and the street and we will confirm crew size before the date is held. Booked most often on the M45 streets around The Unsworth Pole.

    Link to this answer
  • Do you cover the areas around Unsworth?

Yes — Whitefield, Prestwich, Bury, Radcliffe, Heywood and every other Greater Manchester district, each with its own removals page and the same fixed-price bands. Local context matters here: the pole marks a medieval boundary; the district filled with interwar and postwar semis as bury and whitefield merged, which is why the access varies so much between neighbouring streets.

    Link to this answer
  • Is a man with a van cheaper than a full removal?

For a part-load, a single item or a studio flat, yes — hourly man-and-van work from £45/hr is better value. From two bedrooms upwards a full removal crew is usually quicker and cheaper overall, and we will say which suits your Unsworth move when we quote. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Unsworth or across to Whitefield.

    Link to this answer
  • How long does a house move in Unsworth usually take?

Most M45 house removals finish inside a working day. Floor level, lift availability and carry distance change that more than the size of the property, which is why we time the job from the survey rather than the bedroom count. Bury Council loading rules on the M45 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

    Link to this answer
  • Is there anything you cannot move out of Unsworth?

Pianos, safes, American fridges, gym equipment and large glass units all move, but they are quoted at survey because they need extra crew or kit. Paint, fuel, gas bottles and perishables we cannot legally carry — Whitefield customers usually clear those with the same booking. Booked most often on the M45 streets around The Unsworth Pole.

    Link to this answer
  • Do you dismantle beds and wardrobes?

Yes, dismantling and reassembly of standard flat-pack and framed furniture is included in the quote. Fitted wardrobes and glass units are noted at the survey. Crews run from Bury, so Whitefield and Prestwich journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

Four weeks before — book and confirm

  • Confirm the move date and slot for your Unsworth address in writing.
  • Book the van size against your property type — 1930s and 1950s semis with drives and long gardens, plus modern detached infill off Sunny Bank Road.
  • Check whether Bury Council needs a parking dispensation or suspended bay on your street.
  • Tell your landlord or agent the exact handover date and key-return time.
  • Book any end-of-tenancy or pre-move-in clean for the day either side of the move.
  • Start using up freezer food, cleaning products and anything that cannot travel.

Two weeks before — paperwork and access

  • Apply for the Bury Council permit or bay suspension (allow 5–10 working days).
  • Book the lift or service entrance if your building near The Unsworth Pole and St George's Church, Unsworth has one.
  • Redirect post and update your address on the M45 electoral roll, bank and insurance.
  • Notify energy, water, broadband and council tax with opening and closing dates.
  • Register with a new GP, dentist and vet if you are leaving the area.
  • Arrange school transfers or nursery notice periods.

One week before — pack room by room

  • Label every box with the destination room, not the room it came from.
  • Pack a 'first night' box: kettle, mugs, chargers, bedding, toilet roll, medication.
  • Photograph the back of the TV and any flat-pack you are dismantling.
  • Drain the washing machine and fit its transit bolts.
  • Dispose of paint, oils and garden waste through the Bury Council tip — the crew cannot legally load them.
  • Set aside valuables, passports and jewellery to travel with you.

The day before — final prep

  • Charge phones and keep a paper copy of the crew's number and the new address.
  • Defrost the fridge-freezer and towel it dry.
  • Take meter readings at the old property and photograph them.
  • Put cones or bins out to hold the loading space if Unsworth parking is tight.
  • Bag bedding and clothes, and strip the beds you are taking.
  • Confirm arrival window with the crew and the key-collection time with the agent.

Moving day — loading

  • Walk the crew through the property and flag fragile and do-not-load items.
  • Protect carpets, stair noses and door frames before the first box moves.
  • Load heavy furniture first, boxes second, soft furnishings last.
  • Keep the first-night box and paperwork with you, not in the van.
  • Check lofts, sheds, the garden and every cupboard before the van leaves.
  • Final meter readings, lock up and hand back keys.

Moving day — unloading and sign-off

  • Direct each box to its labelled room as it comes off the van.
  • Build beds first so the day can end even if boxes are still packed.
  • Test the boiler, hot water, smoke alarms and the consumer unit.
  • Take arrival meter readings and photograph them.
  • Check items against your inventory and report damage before the crew leaves.
  • Break down boxes and book a recycling collection or clearance slot.
