What we can show you for Great Dunmow

Here is what our garden clearance work around Great Dunmow looks like in practice.

  • Great Dunmow access and housing notes

CM6 housing stock and loading reality, written for Great Dunmow rather than the county.

Garden Clearance in Great Dunmow: what actually matters here

A north-west Essex market town on the Chelmer, on the old Stane Street Roman road, with a large modern housing belt built out towards Stansted.

The housing stock is Georgian and timber-framed buildings around the market place, with substantial 1990s–2020s estate housing on the Woodlands Park and Chelmer sides, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a garden clearance job.

The historic core has narrow streets with short loading windows; the modern estates are easy to reach but have unadopted roads and tight turning heads in places. Stansted Airport traffic loads the B1256 and A120 at peak.

Great Dunmow garden clearance bookings are timed around the transfer station, not the other way round, so the crew is not waiting on a weighbridge with your job half done.

Our Great Dunmow footprint runs across CM6 and takes in Great Dunmow, Woodlands Park, Little Dunmow and Felsted, all on the same garden clearance pricing.

Great Dunmow sits on a round that already includes braintree, saffron-walden and stansted-mountfitchet, which is why a garden clearance slot here rarely needs a week's notice.

Great Dunmow is a smaller town, and addresses around The Doctor's Pond and the Flitch of Bacon tradition in particular tend to need the access details confirmed before the van is loaded — we ask about that at quote stage, not on the day.

We also work Thaxted, Takeley, Great Easton and Barnston as part of the Great Dunmow area, with no difference in how the garden clearance quote is built.

Most Great Dunmow garden clearance enquiries come from households already moving between here and chelmsford and harlow, and we quote those the same way whichever end of the job we are working.

Give us the exact Great Dunmow address and we price from it directly; CM6 covers a wide spread of property ages and access types.

Great Dunmow is planned as Great Dunmow (CM6), Woodlands Park (CM6) and Little Dunmow (CM6) and the streets around them, which is how the crew knows the approach in advance.

Between Great Dunmow and Barnston there are 8 parts of Great Dunmow we route separately, because the approach differs even inside CM6.

Because Great Dunmow shares crews with braintree and saffron-walden, we can usually offer a choice of two dates for a garden clearance instead of one.

What a garden clearance job includes

Garden clearance is the removal of green waste and everything else a garden accumulates: prunings, hedge cuttings, turf, soil, old decking and fence panels, broken furniture, pots, a collapsed shed. Green waste from £95 covers cutting, bagging and removal, and where the load is mixed it is priced by the volume of the van you actually fill, from £110 for a quarter load to £310 for a full load of roughly 12 cubic yards. Everything leaves with a waste transfer note under Environment Agency registration CBDU300454.

Cutting back

  • Overgrowth, brambles and shrubs cut back to the line you agree before we start
  • Hedges reduced and the arisings removed rather than left in a pile
  • Weeds and self-seeded growth cleared from beds, paths and paving joints
  • Turf and topsoil lifted where a bed or a path is being taken out

Hard items

  • Old fence panels, posts, trellis and rotten decking removed
  • Sheds and greenhouses dismantled and taken away where they are safe to break down
  • Broken garden furniture, pots, planters, play equipment and trampolines
  • Rubble, hardcore and spoil segregated as its own waste stream

Loading and disposal

  • Full crew carry — nothing left for you to drag to the front
  • Access route protected and the path or drive swept afterwards
  • Green waste taken to a composting route and hard waste segregated at a licensed transfer station
  • Waste transfer note issued in your name, usually the same day

What changes the price on a garden clearance job

  • Green waste is bulky and light, so a garden that looks like a small job can fill a van quickly. Photos of the whole garden — not just the worst corner — get you a firm price instead of a range.
  • Access decides the labour. A garden reached only through the house, or up a shared alley, is a longer carry than one with side or rear vehicle access, and we ask which yours is at quote stage.
  • Soil, rubble and hardcore are heavy waste charged as their own stream, because the transfer station charges by weight rather than volume. Mixing them into a green-waste price would be a price that changed on the day.
  • Nesting birds are protected by law between March and August, and we will not cut a hedge that is in active use. If we find a nest we stop that section and tell you.
  • Asbestos — common in old shed and garage roofing — fuel, gas bottles and chemicals are outside our licence. If we suspect it, we stop, tell you and point you to a licensed contractor rather than loading it.

Hannah and her friend were friendly and thoughtful. They were very professional and hard working. They also turned a junk room into a nice bedroom. I cannot thank them or praise them enough.

About Great Dunmow

Great Dunmow sits on the Chelmer where Stane Street crosses it, and it is effectively two towns sharing CM6. The historic core around the market place and the Doctor's Pond is Georgian and timber-framed — low door heads, uneven floors, narrow streets with short loading windows. Around it is one of the fastest-growing housing belts in north-west Essex, with 1990s to 2020s estates at Woodlands Park and out towards the Chelmer, built in plasterboard and trussed roof construction.

That split changes the work. Period-core jobs are early starts with a smaller van and frame protection; estate jobs are straightforward to load but need a vehicle sized to the turning head rather than the inventory, and some estate roads are still unadopted. Stansted Airport traffic loads the A120 and B1256 at peak, so arrival windows account for it. Uttlesford is Essex County Council waste territory — booking-only tips, permits for vans — so clearances go out on our own licence with a transfer note.

Common questions

Great Dunmow questions, answered.

  • How much does garden clearance cost in Great Dunmow?

Garden Clearance in Great Dunmow (CM6) starts from £95. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Great Dunmow usually means the historic core has narrow streets with short loading windows; the modern estates are easy to reach but have unadopted roads and tight turning heads in places. Stansted Airport traffic loads the B1256 and A120 at peak.

  • Do you cover the whole of Great Dunmow?

Yes — every CM6 street, plus the surrounding Essex towns. Crews are routed within the county rather than dispatched from London, so short-notice slots are realistic.

  • Are you insured for garden clearance work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book garden clearance in Great Dunmow?

Same-week slots are standard in Great Dunmow, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • How is a garden clearance priced?

Green waste starts from £95 for cut, bagged and removed. Mixed loads are priced by the volume of the van you fill — £110 a quarter, £180 a half, £310 full — with all labour, sweeping and tip fees included, so you are never charged for space you do not use.

  • Do you do the cutting as well as the taking away?

Yes. Cutting back, dismantling and lifting is part of the job — you do not need to have piled it up first. If it is already bagged, say so and the price reflects the shorter labour.

  • Where does the green waste go?

Green waste goes to a composting route and hard waste is segregated at a licensed transfer station, with over 90% of what we collect kept out of landfill. You get the waste transfer note either way, which is your legal record of where it went.
