What we can show you for Great Dunmow

Here is what our rubbish & waste disposal work around Great Dunmow looks like in practice.

  • Great Dunmow access and housing notes

CM6 housing stock and loading reality, written for Great Dunmow rather than the county.

Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Great Dunmow: what actually matters here

A north-west Essex market town on the Chelmer, on the old Stane Street Roman road, with a large modern housing belt built out towards Stansted.

The housing stock is Georgian and timber-framed buildings around the market place, with substantial 1990s–2020s estate housing on the Woodlands Park and Chelmer sides, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a rubbish & waste disposal job.

The historic core has narrow streets with short loading windows; the modern estates are easy to reach but have unadopted roads and tight turning heads in places. Stansted Airport traffic loads the B1256 and A120 at peak.

Every Great Dunmow rubbish & waste disposal load leaves with a transfer note, and the round is planned so the licensed transfer station run fits the same day.

Our Great Dunmow footprint runs across CM6 and takes in Great Dunmow, Woodlands Park and Little Dunmow, all on the same rubbish & waste disposal pricing.

Because the same Essex team runs Great Dunmow alongside braintree, saffron-walden and stansted-mountfitchet, we can often add a rubbish & waste disposal job to an existing day rather than sending a van out on its own.

As a smaller town built around The Doctor's Pond and the Flitch of Bacon tradition, Great Dunmow has a mix of approach roads and loading points, so we confirm parking and carry distance when you book rather than assuming.

The round also takes in Felsted, Thaxted, Takeley and Great Easton, so an address there is booked exactly as one in the centre of Great Dunmow would be.

Most Great Dunmow rubbish & waste disposal enquiries come from households already moving between here and chelmsford and harlow, and we quote those the same way whichever end of the job we are working.

A CM6 postcode tells us the area; the house number tells us the access, and it is the access that prices the rubbish & waste disposal.

Great Dunmow (CM6), Woodlands Park (CM6) and Little Dunmow (CM6): those are the parts of Great Dunmow we plan the round around.

Between Great Dunmow and Barnston there are 8 parts of Great Dunmow we route separately, because the approach differs even inside CM6.

Your Great Dunmow rubbish & waste disposal slot is confirmed with the crew name and the arrival window; the same crew covers braintree and saffron-walden, so they know the roads in.

What a rubbish & waste disposal job includes

Rubbish removal is man-and-van waste collection: we load it, we sweep up and we dispose of it legally. Pricing is by the volume of the van you actually fill — £65 minimum collection for a single item, £110 a quarter load, £180 a half load, £240 three-quarters and £310 for a full load of roughly 12 cubic yards — with labour and tip fees included. It is not a skip: nothing needs a permit, nothing sits on your drive for a week, and you are not the one carrying it out.

What we take

  • Household and office rubbish, bagged or loose
  • Furniture, sofas, wardrobes, desks and office chairs
  • White goods and electricals through the WEEE route
  • Bulky one-offs — mattresses, carpets, garden furniture, exercise equipment
  • Building and refurbishment waste as a separately priced heavy stream

How the collection runs

  • Two-person crew who carry it out — from the room, the garage or the garden, not just the kerb
  • Loading route protected and the area brushed up before we leave
  • Volume measured against the van and confirmed with you before loading, so the price is agreed not estimated
  • Same-day and next-day slots where a van is already in the area

Disposal and paperwork

  • Registered upper-tier waste carrier, Environment Agency CBDU300454
  • Usable items offered to charity partners before anything is treated as waste
  • Loads segregated at a licensed transfer station, with over 90% diverted from landfill
  • Digital waste transfer note issued in your name, usually the same day

What changes the price on a rubbish & waste disposal job

  • Some items carry a per-item charge because the permitted facility charges them separately: fridges and freezers need degassing from £45, and mattresses, tyres, paint and upholstered seating covered by the POPs rules have their own disposal route. These are quoted before the van arrives.
  • Heavy waste — soil, rubble, hardcore, plasterboard — is charged as its own stream by weight rather than volume, because that is how the transfer station charges us.
  • Asbestos, clinical waste, chemicals, fuel and gas bottles are outside our licence and are sub-contracted to a licensed handler rather than loaded.
  • Always take the transfer note. Householders have a legal duty of care for their waste, and fly-tipped rubbish traced back to your address is your problem unless you can show who took it.
  • Volume is the price, so how it is stacked matters. Broken-down flat-pack and flattened cardboard take a fraction of the space of the same items whole, and that difference is real money.

About Great Dunmow

Great Dunmow sits on the Chelmer where Stane Street crosses it, and it is effectively two towns sharing CM6. The historic core around the market place and the Doctor's Pond is Georgian and timber-framed — low door heads, uneven floors, narrow streets with short loading windows. Around it is one of the fastest-growing housing belts in north-west Essex, with 1990s to 2020s estates at Woodlands Park and out towards the Chelmer, built in plasterboard and trussed roof construction.

That split changes the work. Period-core jobs are early starts with a smaller van and frame protection; estate jobs are straightforward to load but need a vehicle sized to the turning head rather than the inventory, and some estate roads are still unadopted. Stansted Airport traffic loads the A120 and B1256 at peak, so arrival windows account for it. Uttlesford is Essex County Council waste territory — booking-only tips, permits for vans — so clearances go out on our own licence with a transfer note.

Common questions

Great Dunmow questions, answered.

  • How much does rubbish & waste disposal cost in Great Dunmow?

Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Great Dunmow (CM6) starts from £95. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Great Dunmow usually means the historic core has narrow streets with short loading windows; the modern estates are easy to reach but have unadopted roads and tight turning heads in places. Stansted Airport traffic loads the B1256 and A120 at peak.

  • Do you cover the whole of Great Dunmow?

Yes — every CM6 street, plus the surrounding Essex towns. Crews are routed within the county rather than dispatched from London, so short-notice slots are realistic.

  • Are you insured for rubbish & waste disposal work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book rubbish & waste disposal in Great Dunmow?

Same-week slots are standard in Great Dunmow, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • How does this compare with hiring a skip?

A skip needs a permit on the road, sits there for days, and you load it yourself. A van collection is loaded by us, gone the same visit, and priced by what you actually fill rather than by the skip size you had to guess.

  • Can you come today?

Often, depending on where the van already is that morning. Same-day and next-day slots are normal for quarter and half loads; a full house-worth of waste is better booked in so we send the right crew and van count.

  • What proof do I get that it was disposed of legally?

A digital waste transfer note in your name, usually the same day, from an Environment Agency registered upper-tier carrier (CBDU300454). That note is your evidence of duty of care, and you should insist on one from anybody who takes waste away.

Practical reading before you book in Great Dunmow — costs, checklists and what a good job actually looks like.
