What we can show you for Tilbury

Here is what our removals work around Tilbury looks like in practice.

  • Tilbury access and housing notes

RM18 housing stock and loading reality, written for Tilbury rather than the county.

Removals in Tilbury: what actually matters here

A Thurrock dock town on the Thames, built around the port and the Tudor fort, with the ferry crossing to Gravesend.

The housing stock is Company-built dock housing and post-war terraces and maisonettes, with low-rise estates behind the port road, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a removals job.

Port and HGV traffic dominates the approach roads at shift changes, and Thurrock's own recycling scheme applies rather than Essex County Council's. Cross-river jobs pay the Dartford Crossing charge.

Tilbury removals jobs live or die on loading: where the van can legally stand, how far the carry is and what floor the property sits on.

Our Tilbury footprint runs across RM18 and takes in Tilbury town, West Tilbury, East Tilbury, Chadwell St Mary and Tilbury Docks, all on the same removals pricing.

Because the same Essex team runs Tilbury alongside grays, stanford-le-hope-and-corringham and south-ockendon, we can often add a removals job to an existing day rather than sending a van out on its own.

Tilbury is a smaller town; the streets around Tilbury Fort and the Tilbury–Gravesend ferry are the ones where we most often check loading arrangements in advance.

We also work Bata Estate, Tilbury Riverside and Linford as part of the Tilbury area, with no difference in how the removals quote is built.

Tilbury to basildon is a run the team does regularly, and a removals across that route is quoted as a single job.

Every Tilbury quote starts from the address itself. Two RM18 properties a few streets apart can need different crew sizes for the same removals.

Tilbury is planned as Tilbury town (RM18), West Tilbury (RM18) and East Tilbury (RM18) and the streets around them, which is how the crew knows the approach in advance.

8 named areas make up our Tilbury coverage. Tilbury town and Linford are the outer markers, RM18 the postcode span.

We confirm the Tilbury slot in writing with a time window, and the crew calls from grays or stanford-le-hope-and-corringham when they set off.

What a removals job includes

A house removal is a surveyed, fixed-price job, not an hourly booking: we look at the property, count the volume, work out the access at both ends and quote one number — from £340 for a studio or one-bed, from £520 for a two-bed, and from £780 for a three-bed with a crew of three for the day. Crews carry blankets, straps and trolleys as standard and dismantle and reassemble standard beds and tables as part of the price, with goods in transit cover of £10k per load and £1m public liability in place before anything is loaded.

Before moving day

  • Video or in-person survey, then a fixed written price that does not move unless you add work
  • Volume, crew size and van count planned from the survey rather than guessed on the day
  • Access checked at both ends — parking, lift booking, floor level, stair width
  • A written plan for what gets dismantled and what travels assembled

On the day

  • Floors, banisters and door frames protected on the carry route
  • Furniture blanket-wrapped, mattresses bagged, mirrors and glass carried between boards
  • Standard beds, wardrobes and tables dismantled and rebuilt at the new address
  • Boxes placed in the labelled room, not stacked in the hall

At the new address

  • Large furniture positioned where you want it before the crew leaves
  • Beds rebuilt so the first night does not happen on a mattress on the floor
  • Blankets, boards and our own packaging taken away
  • A signed job sheet recording condition and completion

What changes the price on a removals job

  • Completion-day timing is outside anyone's control. Keys held up by a solicitor happen; we plan a realistic start, and the honest answer is that the crew can only load once you can hand over access.
  • Parking, congestion charge and ULEZ where genuinely incurred are itemised at cost and never marked up. They are the only pass-through on a removal.
  • Pianos, safes, large aquariums and full-size gym equipment are specialist lifts quoted separately, and we do not carry fuel, gas bottles or hazardous goods in a stacked load.
  • Volume, not distance, sets a removal price. A cluttered two-bed with a full loft and garage can be a bigger job than a tidy three-bed, which is why we survey rather than price from bedroom count.
  • Access is the second half. No lift above the third floor, a permit-only street, a long carry from the nearest legal stopping point or a lift that must be booked with a building manager all add crew hours — we would rather find that at survey than at 8am on moving day.

Really pleased with our house move. The guys came on time, loaded everything carefully like a huge jigsaw! About Tilbury

Tilbury is a Thames dock town in Thurrock, built around the port and the Tudor fort, with a ferry still running across to Gravesend. Its housing is largely company-built dock terraces and post-war estate stock, including the distinctive modernist Bata estate at East Tilbury — flat-roofed, concrete-framed housing that behaves quite differently from ordinary brick when anything is being fixed to a wall.

Timing is the local skill. Port and HGV traffic dominates the approach roads around shift changes, so loading is scheduled into the gaps between them; a job that ignores that can lose an hour before it starts. As a Thurrock address this sits outside the Essex County Council waste scheme and inside the borough's own, so the county's tip booking and van permit are irrelevant here — and in any case, anything we clear leaves under our upper-tier carrier licence with a transfer note. Jobs that cross the river carry the Dartford Crossing charge, which is quoted up front.

Common questions

Tilbury questions, answered.

  • How much does removals cost in Tilbury?

Removals in Tilbury (RM18) starts from £45 per hour. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Tilbury usually means port and HGV traffic dominates the approach roads at shift changes, and Thurrock's own recycling scheme applies rather than Essex County Council's. Cross-river jobs pay the Dartford Crossing charge.

  • Do you cover the whole of Tilbury?

Yes — every RM18 street, plus the surrounding Essex towns. Crews are routed within the county rather than dispatched from London, so short-notice slots are realistic.

  • Are you insured for removals work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book removals in Tilbury?

Same-week slots are standard in Tilbury, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • Why survey instead of just quoting by bedrooms?

Because bedroom count does not tell us volume or access, and those are what the day actually costs. A ten-minute video walk-round gives you a fixed price we stand behind rather than an estimate that moves once the van is half full.

  • Do you pack as well?

Packing is a separate service, priced per packer per hour or as a fixed price by property size, and it can be booked for the whole house, for the kitchen and fragiles only, or not at all. Keeping it separate means you are not paying for packing you intend to do yourself.

  • What is covered if something is damaged?

Goods in transit cover of £10k per load applies to everything in the van, with £1m public liability alongside it. Anything already damaged is noted with you before loading, and anything raised within 24 hours is put right rather than argued about.

  • Can the move run over two days?

Yes, and for larger homes it is often the sensible plan — pack and load non-essentials on day one, complete on day two. It is quoted as one job, with the overnight load staying secured in the van or in storage as agreed in writing.
