What we can show you for Eastbourne

Here is what our removals work around Eastbourne looks like in practice.

  • Eastbourne access and housing notes

BN20, BN21, BN22, BN23 housing stock and loading reality, written for Eastbourne rather than the county.

Removals in Eastbourne: what actually matters here

A planned Victorian resort under the western end of the South Downs, with a grid of wide seafront avenues, a large purpose-built retirement-flat stock, and post-war and 1990s estates spreading inland to Hampden Park and Sovereign Harbour.

The housing stock is Substantial Victorian and Edwardian villas in Meads and Upperton, many now flats; interwar semis at Old Town and Hampden Park; purpose-built retirement blocks with lifts across BN21 and BN22; and 1990s marina housing at Sovereign Harbour in BN23, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a removals job.

The seafront and Meads streets are wide and mostly loadable, which makes Eastbourne easier than Brighton, but the retirement blocks have their own rules: booked lift use, protective blankets in communal areas, and porters who will refuse an unannounced arrival. Sovereign Harbour has gated parking and height barriers on several courts. East Sussex County Council runs the household waste site on Hammonds Drive under its residents-only permit scheme, with a separate permit required for a van or trailer.

A removals in Eastbourne is planned around the two ends of the day — access here and access wherever the load is going.

Eastbourne is quoted as a whole: Meads, Old Town, Upperton, Roselands and Hampden Park are on the same removals rate as anywhere else inside BN20, BN21 and BN22.

We plan removals work in Eastbourne together with polegate, hailsham and seaford, which is why midweek and short-notice slots do come up here.

As one of the larger settlements in the county built around Beachy Head and the Victorian seafront between the pier and Holywell, Eastbourne has a mix of approach roads and loading points, so we confirm parking and carry distance when you book rather than assuming.

We also work Langney, Sovereign Harbour, Shinewater and Willingdon Trees as part of the Eastbourne area, with no difference in how the removals quote is built.

We do not treat a Eastbourne–bexhill-on-sea removals as long distance; it stays on the local round and on the local price list.

A BN20 postcode tells us the area; the house number tells us the access, and it is the access that prices the removals.

Meads (BN20), Old Town (BN21) and Upperton (BN21): those are the parts of Eastbourne we plan the round around.

Between Meads and Seaside there are 12 parts of Eastbourne we route separately, because the approach differs even inside BN20.

Because Eastbourne shares crews with polegate and hailsham, we can usually offer a choice of two dates for a removals instead of one.

What a removals job includes

A house removal is a surveyed, fixed-price job, not an hourly booking: we look at the property, count the volume, work out the access at both ends and quote one number — from £340 for a studio or one-bed, from £520 for a two-bed, and from £780 for a three-bed with a crew of three for the day. Crews carry blankets, straps and trolleys as standard and dismantle and reassemble standard beds and tables as part of the price, with goods in transit cover of £10k per load and £1m public liability in place before anything is loaded.

Before moving day

  • Video or in-person survey, then a fixed written price that does not move unless you add work
  • Volume, crew size and van count planned from the survey rather than guessed on the day
  • Access checked at both ends — parking, lift booking, floor level, stair width
  • A written plan for what gets dismantled and what travels assembled

On the day

  • Floors, banisters and door frames protected on the carry route
  • Furniture blanket-wrapped, mattresses bagged, mirrors and glass carried between boards
  • Standard beds, wardrobes and tables dismantled and rebuilt at the new address
  • Boxes placed in the labelled room, not stacked in the hall

At the new address

  • Large furniture positioned where you want it before the crew leaves
  • Beds rebuilt so the first night does not happen on a mattress on the floor
  • Blankets, boards and our own packaging taken away
  • A signed job sheet recording condition and completion

What changes the price on a removals job

  • Volume, not distance, sets a removal price. A cluttered two-bed with a full loft and garage can be a bigger job than a tidy three-bed, which is why we survey rather than price from bedroom count.
  • Access is the second half. No lift above the third floor, a permit-only street, a long carry from the nearest legal stopping point or a lift that must be booked with a building manager all add crew hours — we would rather find that at survey than at 8am on moving day.
  • Completion-day timing is outside anyone's control. Keys held up by a solicitor happen; we plan a realistic start, and the honest answer is that the crew can only load once you can hand over access.
  • Parking, congestion charge and ULEZ where genuinely incurred are itemised at cost and never marked up. They are the only pass-through on a removal.
  • Pianos, safes, large aquariums and full-size gym equipment are specialist lifts quoted separately, and we do not carry fuel, gas bottles or hazardous goods in a stacked load.

A throughly professional and friendly job. Moving house can be stressful, and these guys made the experience significantly less so by efficiently cleaning the house.

About Eastbourne

Eastbourne divides cleanly into three jobs. The Victorian and Edwardian stock in Meads and Upperton is generous — wide stairs, big rooms, usually a place to stop the van legally — and it is where the full-house removals and deep cleans come from. The purpose-built retirement blocks across BN21 and BN22 are a completely different discipline: management companies expect notice, a booked lift, floor protection in the communal areas and a finish time, and a crew that turns up cold gets turned away. We confirm building rules with the managing agent before the day rather than on the doorstep.

Inland, Hampden Park, Langney and Shinewater are post-war and later estates with drives, side access and space to work, and Sovereign Harbour is 1990s marina housing where the constraints are gated courts, allocated bays and height barriers rather than stairs. Coastal weather matters here as much as the housing: salt-laden air off the Channel greys render, decking and uPVC on south-facing frontages faster than a few miles inland, which is why exterior cleaning is a bigger part of our Eastbourne work than anywhere else in the county.

Common questions

Eastbourne questions, answered.

  • How much does removals cost in Eastbourne?

Removals in Eastbourne (BN20, BN21, BN22, BN23) starts from £45 per hour. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Eastbourne usually means the seafront and Meads streets are wide and mostly loadable, which makes Eastbourne easier than Brighton, but the retirement blocks have their own rules: booked lift use, protective blankets in communal areas, and porters who will refuse an unannounced arrival. Sovereign Harbour has gated parking and height barriers on several courts. East Sussex County Council runs the household waste site on Hammonds Drive under its residents-only permit scheme, with a separate permit required for a van or trailer.

  • Do you cover the whole of Eastbourne?

Yes — every BN20 and BN21 and BN22 and BN23 street, plus the surrounding East Sussex towns. Jobs are scheduled by travel time, so short-notice slots do come up.

  • Are you insured for removals work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book removals in Eastbourne?

Same-week slots are standard in Eastbourne, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across East Sussex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • Why survey instead of just quoting by bedrooms?

Because bedroom count does not tell us volume or access, and those are what the day actually costs. A ten-minute video walk-round gives you a fixed price we stand behind rather than an estimate that moves once the van is half full.

  • Do you pack as well?

Packing is a separate service, priced per packer per hour or as a fixed price by property size, and it can be booked for the whole house, for the kitchen and fragiles only, or not at all. Keeping it separate means you are not paying for packing you intend to do yourself.

  • What is covered if something is damaged?

Goods in transit cover of £10k per load applies to everything in the van, with £1m public liability alongside it. Anything already damaged is noted with you before loading, and anything raised within 24 hours is put right rather than argued about.

  • Can the move run over two days?

Yes, and for larger homes it is often the sensible plan — pack and load non-essentials on day one, complete on day two. It is quoted as one job, with the overnight load staying secured in the van or in storage as agreed in writing.
