Removals in Offerton

Surveyed first, fixed second

Offerton house removals cover the whole home across SK1 and SK2 — furniture, white goods, lofts, garages and sheds. Interwar semis on the lower slopes, 1960s estate housing above the Green and stone cottages near the old hamlet. That housing stock decides the van size, the crew count and how long the carry takes.

Stockport Council controls the loading bays and permits at both ends of a Offerton move, so those are booked in the week before rather than argued about at 8am. If the chain slips, the van stays loaded and secure overnight for a fixed fee.

Only moving a part-load? Man with a van in Offerton starts at £45 an hour. For the full moving line-up, see moving services in Offerton.

What the fixed price covers

What is included in Offerton

Survey and fixed quote

A video or in-person survey of your Offerton home, then one written fixed price covering crew, van, mileage and materials.

Protection materials supplied

Wardrobe cartons, mattress bags, sofa covers, blankets, floor runners and door jamb protection — delivered with the van, no hire charge.

Dismantle and reassemble

Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and standard flat-pack come apart and go back together at the new address as part of the quote.

Completion-day sequencing

Loaded before keys drop, with Stockport Council permit bays booked at both ends so a late release does not cost you an extra day.

Chain-delay van hold

If completion slips, the load stays sealed in a secure depot overnight for a fixed fee and delivers first thing — no unloading onto a driveway.

Fully insured crew

Goods-in-transit cover on every Offerton load, £5m public liability, and vetted crew who move homes full time rather than as casual labour.

Move sizes

Homes we move in Offerton

2-bed flats and houses

One van, two crew, most of a working day including reassembly. Stockport Council loading rules on the SK1 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

3-bed family homes

Large van, three crew, a full day with lofts, garages and garden gear. Stockport Council loading rules on the SK1 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

4+ bed and detached

Two vans, four crew, survey-led fixed price and a staged load plan. Roughly 5,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

Part-house and downsizing

Half the home to the new address, the rest to storage or clearance. Crews run from Stockport, so Stockport and Hazel Grove journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

Chain and completion moves

Loaded early, held if keys slip, delivered the moment they land. Most Offerton properties give us a driveway, so the hours go into lofts, garages and garden kit.

Specialist items

Pianos, safes, American fridges, gym kit and glass units, quoted at survey. Offerton Precinct shops, Woodbank Memorial Park and Peak-facing walking clubs — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

Completion day, planned

Your Offerton moving day timeline

  1. Step 1

    2–3 weeks out

Survey by video or in person, written fixed quote, date held. Booked most often on the SK1 streets around The Goyt valley path.

  2. Step 2

    1 week out

Permit bays and lift bookings confirmed at both ends; materials dropped off. Stockport Council loading rules on the SK1 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

  3. Step 3

    Moving day, 8am

Crew arrives, protection down, dismantling starts, van loaded in room order. Crews run from Stockport, so Stockport and Hazel Grove journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

  4. Step 4

    Keys released

Drive, unload to the room you label, rebuild beds and wardrobes, walk-through. Offerton Precinct shops, Woodbank Memorial Park and Peak-facing walking clubs — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

Access, parking and timing

Loading in Offerton: what the crew plans for

Interwar semis on the lower slopes, 1960s estate housing above the Green and stone cottages near the old hamlet. That stock, the street it sits on and the Stockport Council rules over it decide how long the day takes — so all three are settled at survey, not on the morning.

The best slot to book here

Start times here are set by the access, not the diary: where a lift, a bay or a school-run street is involved the crew starts early and finishes inside the day rather than paying for a second visit. Roughly 5,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

What to tell us at survey

Tell us about the loft, the garage, the shed and anything that will not come apart. It is the unlisted items, not the address, that turn a comfortable day into an overtime one. Stockport Council loading rules on the SK1 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

Getting furniture out of Offerton properties

Driveway loading makes these moves efficient. What moves the price is the loft, the garage and the shed, so the survey deliberately opens all three. Local context matters here: a cheshire hamlet on the marple road, built out with interwar semis and then a substantial 1960s estate above offerton green, which is why the access varies so much between neighbouring streets.

Permits and loading around Offerton

The crew should be carrying, not circling. We confirm the restriction type on the SK1 end, arrange a suspension through Stockport Council where it is worth it, and plan the closest legal standing point to the door. Offerton Precinct shops, Woodbank Memorial Park and Peak-facing walking clubs — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

Jobs we run most often in Offerton

If one of these looks like yours, say so when you enquire — we will quote it from the closest job we have already done in Stockport rather than starting from a blank form.

From £395

Two-bed move out of a three-bed semi

Van, two crew, protection materials, dismantling and reassembly — the standard Offerton completion-day booking, fixed at survey from £395. Crews run from Stockport, so Stockport and Hazel Grove journeys carry no out-of-area charge.

From £595

Chain-proof

Completion-day chain with a late key release

Loaded before keys drop and held sealed if the chain slips, with a fixed overnight fee instead of an unloaded driveway and a second day's labour. Offerton Precinct shops, Woodbank Memorial Park and Peak-facing walking clubs — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

No mileage surcharge

Moving within Stockport

How it works in Offerton

  1. Step 1

    Start with the property

A few lines is enough to start: rooms, frequency and the Offerton street you're on. Anything unusual — a shared stairwell, a key-safe, a dog — is better said up front than discovered on the day.

  2. Step 2

    We price it in writing

You get a written figure for your house removal, itemised, normally within a few hours. No survey fee, and no surcharge for travelling to Offerton.

  3. Step 3

    Pick your slot

Choose a morning or afternoon window. We plan around Offerton traffic and parking so the crew arrives inside it.

  4. Step 4

    We check it with you

You get a finished-work check against the same list you agreed at the start — no vague "all done" message. Anything below standard is re-done at our cost.

House removals in Offerton: local proof

Booking a house move in Offerton means working around interwar semis on the lower slopes — the stock that defines SK1 and SK2. A Cheshire hamlet on the Marple road, built out with interwar semis and then a substantial 1960s estate above Offerton Green. That history is why the interiors here need the attention they do.

Our teams plan for one recurring Offerton issue: goyt valley run-off and a steep east-facing aspect mean silted drives and heavy moss on stone steps and retaining walls. Scheduling fits around offerton Precinct shops, and parking is agreed before the van sets off. Coverage runs across SK1, SK2 and the Stockport streets either side of it.

Offerton house removals FAQs

  • How much do house removals cost in Offerton?

A two-bed move in Offerton starts at £395, a three-bed at £595 and a four-bed or larger at £895. Those are fixed prices after a survey, and they include the van, the crew, mileage inside Greater Manchester, protection materials and dismantling. Booked most often on the SK1 streets around The Goyt valley path.

  • Do you survey the property before quoting in Offerton?

Yes. Every Offerton removal is surveyed by video call or in person so the quote reflects the real inventory, the floor, the stairwell and the parking. The figure we give you is the figure you pay unless items are added on the day. Most Offerton properties give us a driveway, so the hours go into lofts, garages and garden kit.

    Link to this answer
  • What happens if completion is delayed on the day?

The van stays loaded and secure. We hold overnight at our depot for a fixed fee rather than unloading into a driveway, and deliver first thing once keys are released. Local context matters here: a cheshire hamlet on the marple road, built out with interwar semis and then a substantial 1960s estate above offerton green, which is why the access varies so much between neighbouring streets.

    Link to this answer
  • Do you dismantle beds and wardrobes?

Yes, dismantling and reassembly of standard flat-pack and framed furniture is included in the quote. Fitted wardrobes and glass units are noted at the survey. Roughly 5,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

    Link to this answer
  • Is a man with a van cheaper than a full removal?

For a part-load, a single item or a studio flat, yes — hourly man-and-van work from £45/hr is better value. From two bedrooms upwards a full removal crew is usually quicker and cheaper overall, and we will say which suits your Offerton move when we quote. Offerton Precinct shops, Woodbank Memorial Park and Peak-facing walking clubs — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

  • Do you cover the areas around Offerton?

Yes — Stockport, Hazel Grove, Romiley, Marple, Bredbury and every other Greater Manchester district, each with its own removals page and the same fixed-price bands. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Offerton or across to Stockport.

    Link to this answer
  • Can you handle the stairs and access in semi-detached homes around The Goyt valley path and Offerton Green?

Semis here usually give you a driveway or a dropped kerb, which keeps the carry short — the time goes into loft contents, garage shelving and the garden kit people forget to mention until the day. Send a short video of the stairwell and the street and we will confirm crew size before the date is held. Roughly 5,800 households sit inside these postcodes, so weekend dates here go early.

    Link to this answer
  • Do I need a parking permit or bay suspension in Offerton?

Often, yes — Stockport Council controls loading on most SK1 and SK2 streets. We check your street at survey and, where a suspension saves a long carry, we apply for it and show the cost in the quote before you accept it. Booked most often on the SK1 streets around The Goyt valley path.

    Link to this answer
  • Can you park a removal van near The Goyt valley path and Offerton Green?

Stockport Council sets the loading and permit rules on these streets. Tell us at survey whether there is a driveway, a permit bay or a loading window and we arrange the bay in advance, so the crew carries rather than circles. Stockport Council loading rules on the SK1 end are checked before the slot is confirmed.

  • What happens if completion is delayed on moving day?

The van stays loaded and secure. We hold overnight at the depot for a fixed fee rather than unloading into a driveway, and deliver to your Offerton address first thing once keys are released. Most Offerton properties give us a driveway, so the hours go into lofts, garages and garden kit.

    Link to this answer
  • How far ahead should I book a Offerton removal?

Two to three weeks is comfortable, and end-of-month Fridays go first. We do hold short-notice slots back each week for completion dates that move. Booked most often on the SK1 streets around The Goyt valley path.

    Link to this answer
  • Do you dismantle and rebuild furniture in Offerton?

Yes — beds, wardrobes, tables and standard flat-pack are dismantled at your Offerton property and rebuilt at the destination as part of the fixed price. Fitted units and glass are noted at survey. Most Offerton properties give us a driveway, so the hours go into lofts, garages and garden kit.

    Link to this answer
  • Is there anything you cannot move out of Offerton?

Pianos, safes, American fridges, gym equipment and large glass units all move, but they are quoted at survey because they need extra crew or kit. Paint, fuel, gas bottles and perishables we cannot legally carry — Stockport customers usually clear those with the same booking. Priced the same whether you are moving inside Offerton or across to Stockport.

    Link to this answer
  • How long does a house move in Offerton usually take?

Most SK1 house removals finish inside a working day. Floor level, lift availability and carry distance change that more than the size of the property, which is why we time the job from the survey rather than the bedroom count. Offerton Precinct shops, Woodbank Memorial Park and Peak-facing walking clubs — worth telling us about if it closes your street on the day.

Why Offerton customers book with us

Most complaints about removals in Stockport come down to three things: the price changed, the crew was short, or nobody answered the phone. These are our commitments on all three.

Fixed before we start

Access, stair turns, parking and carry distance are all priced at survey. If nothing is added to the inventory, the SK1 figure you accepted is the figure you pay.

If the chain slips

Your load stays sealed and insured overnight for a fixed fee and delivers first thing — we do not unload onto a driveway or re-quote the second day at short-notice rates.

Cover that actually applies

Goods-in-transit and public liability cover is in place on every Offerton house removal, and claims go to a named account manager here rather than a form.

Before you commit

Call 020 3633 4555 and ask what a house move like yours costs from £395 fixed. If a cheaper option fits better — a smaller van, an hourly booking, a different day — we will say so.

Booked with your house removal

A move in Stockport is rarely just a van. These are the jobs our Offerton crews are asked for in the same week — clearing what is not worth transporting, packing, reinstating shelves and fixings, and getting both properties clean — each on its own page with its own pricing.

Four weeks before — book and confirm

  • Confirm the move date and slot for your Offerton address in writing.
  • Book the van size against your property type — Interwar semis on the lower slopes, 1960s estate housing above the Green and stone cottages near the old hamlet.
  • Check whether Stockport Council needs a parking dispensation or suspended bay on your street.
  • Tell your landlord or agent the exact handover date and key-return time.
  • Book any end-of-tenancy or pre-move-in clean for the day either side of the move.
  • Start using up freezer food, cleaning products and anything that cannot travel.

Two weeks before — paperwork and access

  • Apply for the Stockport Council permit or bay suspension (allow 5–10 working days).
  • Book the lift or service entrance if your building near The Goyt valley path and Offerton Green has one.
  • Redirect post and update your address on the SK1 electoral roll, bank and insurance.
  • Notify energy, water, broadband and council tax with opening and closing dates.
  • Register with a new GP, dentist and vet if you are leaving the area.
  • Arrange school transfers or nursery notice periods.

One week before — pack room by room

  • Label every box with the destination room, not the room it came from.
  • Pack a 'first night' box: kettle, mugs, chargers, bedding, toilet roll, medication.
  • Photograph the back of the TV and any flat-pack you are dismantling.
  • Drain the washing machine and fit its transit bolts.
  • Dispose of paint, oils and garden waste through the Stockport Council tip — the crew cannot legally load them.
  • Set aside valuables, passports and jewellery to travel with you.

The day before — final prep

  • Charge phones and keep a paper copy of the crew's number and the new address.
  • Defrost the fridge-freezer and towel it dry.
  • Take meter readings at the old property and photograph them.
  • Put cones or bins out to hold the loading space if Offerton parking is tight.
  • Bag bedding and clothes, and strip the beds you are taking.
  • Confirm arrival window with the crew and the key-collection time with the agent.

Moving day — loading

  • Walk the crew through the property and flag fragile and do-not-load items.
  • Protect carpets, stair noses and door frames before the first box moves.
  • Load heavy furniture first, boxes second, soft furnishings last.
  • Keep the first-night box and paperwork with you, not in the van.
  • Check lofts, sheds, the garden and every cupboard before the van leaves.
  • Final meter readings, lock up and hand back keys.

Moving day — unloading and sign-off

  • Direct each box to its labelled room as it comes off the van.
  • Build beds first so the day can end even if boxes are still packed.
  • Test the boiler, hot water, smoke alarms and the consumer unit.
  • Take arrival meter readings and photograph them.
  • Check items against your inventory and report damage before the crew leaves.
  • Break down boxes and book a recycling collection or clearance slot.
