Clearance & Disposal in East Sussex
Clearance here is mostly whole-property work: probate and estate clearances in Eastbourne, Bexhill and Seaford, tenancy and flat clearances in Brighton and Hastings, and garage, loft and garden clearances across the Wealden towns. We price on the volume of the van actually filled plus anything that has to be handled separately — fridges, mattresses, paint, electricals — and we itemise it, because a flat fee for "a van load" tells you nothing about what you are paying for.
We are registered waste carriers. Everything we take goes to a licensed transfer station for sorting, and you get the waste transfer note. What can be reused is separated for reuse rather than tipped, and we tell you plainly what we cannot take: no asbestos, no clinical waste, no hazardous chemicals, no gas bottles.
The access reality of an East Sussex clearance
Two towns dominate the difficult jobs. Brighton flats mean stair carries from second and third floors with no lift and often no parking outside — that is not an extra, it is the job, and it is in the quote. Hastings Old Town means twittens and steps where a van cannot approach at all. Everywhere else is more forgiving: Eastbourne, Bexhill, Seaford, Peacehaven and the Wealden estates generally let a vehicle get close, and clearance there is priced accordingly rather than at a coastal-town premium.
Two waste authorities, one county
This catches people who move within the county. Brighton and Hove is a unitary authority with its own household waste site at Hollingdean, on Upper Hollingdean Road. The rest of East Sussex is served by East Sussex County Council sites — Hailsham, Uckfield, Newhaven and the others — which run a residents-only scheme with a separate permit for vans and trailers. A Brighton and Hove resident cannot simply use an East Sussex County Council site, and the reverse applies too. None of that affects what we do with your load in any case: household sites take household waste from residents, so a contractor's load goes to a licensed commercial transfer station, with the transfer note handed to you.

Clearance & Disposal across East Sussex
Clearance & Disposal in East Sussex, answered.
Can you take my waste to an East Sussex recycling centre?
No, and neither can any other contractor. East Sussex County Council's sites operate a residents-only permit scheme with a separate permit for vans and trailers, and Brighton and Hove's Hollingdean site serves its own residents. Anything we carry goes to a licensed commercial transfer station instead, and you get the waste transfer note to keep.
Do I need to be there for a clearance?
No, provided we have access and clear written instructions on what stays. For probate clearances we photograph anything that looks personal or valuable and check before it goes, and we send photographs of the cleared rooms at the end.
How is clearance priced?
On the volume of the van actually filled, plus separate handling for items that need it — fridges and freezers, mattresses, paint and electricals. It is itemised in writing before we start, so you can see what each part costs.
What can't you take?
Asbestos, clinical or medical waste, hazardous chemicals, gas bottles and tyres. If any of those turn up we tell you and point you at the right specialist route rather than quietly loading them.
Are you licensed to carry waste?
Yes — we are registered waste carriers and can provide the registration on request, along with public liability cover. Every job comes with a waste transfer note showing where the load went.
