What we can show you for Grays

Here is what our rubbish & waste disposal work around Grays looks like in practice.

  • Grays access and housing notes

RM16, RM17, RM20 housing stock and loading reality, written for Grays rather than the county.

Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Grays: what actually matters here

A Thames-side Thurrock town of Victorian terraces near the old quarry, riverside industry and large retail-led development around Lakeside.

The housing stock is Victorian and interwar terraces close to the station, with modern riverside apartments at West Thurrock, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a rubbish & waste disposal job.

This is the Essex edge of the London logistics belt: Dartford Crossing charges apply to jobs that cross the river, and riverside apartment blocks have loading bays booked through a concierge.

A Grays rubbish & waste disposal is quoted on what actually fills the van, and anything reusable is separated before the rest is tipped.

From Grays town centre, West Thurrock, Chafford Hundred and Little Thurrock through to the RM16, RM17 and RM20 edges of Grays, one price list applies — the address decides the access, not the rate.

Keeping Grays, basildon, brentwood and wickford and the surrounding villages on one round is what keeps rubbish & waste disposal lead times short here.

Grays is a mid-sized town, and addresses around Grays Beach riverside park and the Lakeside shopping centre in particular tend to need the access details confirmed before the van is loaded — we ask about that at quote stage, not on the day.

We also work South Stifford, Purfleet, Stifford Clays and Belhus as part of the Grays area, with no difference in how the rubbish & waste disposal quote is built.

Grays to southend-on-sea is a run the team does regularly, and a rubbish & waste disposal across that route is quoted as a single job.

Every Grays quote starts from the address itself. Two RM16 properties a few streets apart can need different crew sizes for the same rubbish & waste disposal.

Grays is planned as Grays town centre (RM17), West Thurrock (RM20) and Chafford Hundred (RM16) and the streets around them, which is how the crew knows the approach in advance.

We hold 12 named parts of Grays on the routing sheet, from Grays town centre through to Orsett, all inside RM16 and RM17.

Because Grays shares crews with basildon and brentwood, we can usually offer a choice of two dates for a rubbish & waste disposal instead of one.

What a rubbish & waste disposal job includes

Rubbish removal is man-and-van waste collection: we load it, we sweep up and we dispose of it legally. Pricing is by the volume of the van you actually fill — £65 minimum collection for a single item, £110 a quarter load, £180 a half load, £240 three-quarters and £310 for a full load of roughly 12 cubic yards — with labour and tip fees included. It is not a skip: nothing needs a permit, nothing sits on your drive for a week, and you are not the one carrying it out.

What we take

  • Household and office rubbish, bagged or loose
  • Furniture, sofas, wardrobes, desks and office chairs
  • White goods and electricals through the WEEE route
  • Bulky one-offs — mattresses, carpets, garden furniture, exercise equipment
  • Building and refurbishment waste as a separately priced heavy stream

How the collection runs

  • Two-person crew who carry it out — from the room, the garage or the garden, not just the kerb
  • Loading route protected and the area brushed up before we leave
  • Volume measured against the van and confirmed with you before loading, so the price is agreed not estimated
  • Same-day and next-day slots where a van is already in the area

Disposal and paperwork

  • Registered upper-tier waste carrier, Environment Agency CBDU300454
  • Usable items offered to charity partners before anything is treated as waste
  • Loads segregated at a licensed transfer station, with over 90% diverted from landfill
  • Digital waste transfer note issued in your name, usually the same day

What changes the price on a rubbish & waste disposal job

  • Heavy waste — soil, rubble, hardcore, plasterboard — is charged as its own stream by weight rather than volume, because that is how the transfer station charges us.
  • Asbestos, clinical waste, chemicals, fuel and gas bottles are outside our licence and are sub-contracted to a licensed handler rather than loaded.
  • Always take the transfer note. Householders have a legal duty of care for their waste, and fly-tipped rubbish traced back to your address is your problem unless you can show who took it.
  • Volume is the price, so how it is stacked matters. Broken-down flat-pack and flattened cardboard take a fraction of the space of the same items whole, and that difference is real money.
  • Some items carry a per-item charge because the permitted facility charges them separately: fridges and freezers need degassing from £45, and mattresses, tyres, paint and upholstered seating covered by the POPs rules have their own disposal route. These are quoted before the van arrives.

About Grays

Grays is Thames-side Thurrock: Victorian and interwar terraces around the old quarry and the station, 1990s Chafford Hundred housing built into the chalk pits, and modern riverside apartments at West Thurrock and Purfleet. It is also the Essex edge of the London logistics belt, so the rental market moves quickly and end-of-tenancy work in RM16 and RM17 sits alongside a steady flow of flat-pack and small-repair jobs in the newer apartments.

The two access facts here are the crossing and the concierge. Jobs that cross the river incur the Dartford Charge, which we include in the fixed price and state on the quote rather than adding later, and the riverside blocks require a loading bay booked through building management with a lift booked to match. Terraced streets near the station have no dropped kerbs and permit-only kerbside, so we confirm the stopping point in advance. Grays crews also serve Tilbury, South Ockendon, Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham.

Common questions

Grays questions, answered.

  • How much does rubbish & waste disposal cost in Grays?

Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Grays (RM16, RM17, RM20) starts from £95. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Grays usually means this is the Essex edge of the London logistics belt: Dartford Crossing charges apply to jobs that cross the river, and riverside apartment blocks have loading bays booked through a concierge.

  • Do you cover the whole of Grays?

Yes — every RM16 and RM17 and RM20 street, plus the surrounding Essex towns. Crews are routed within the county rather than dispatched from London, so short-notice slots are realistic.

  • Are you insured for rubbish & waste disposal work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book rubbish & waste disposal in Grays?

Same-week slots are standard in Grays, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • How does this compare with hiring a skip?

A skip needs a permit on the road, sits there for days, and you load it yourself. A van collection is loaded by us, gone the same visit, and priced by what you actually fill rather than by the skip size you had to guess.

  • Can you come today?

Often, depending on where the van already is that morning. Same-day and next-day slots are normal for quarter and half loads; a full house-worth of waste is better booked in so we send the right crew and van count.

  • What proof do I get that it was disposed of legally?

A digital waste transfer note in your name, usually the same day, from an Environment Agency registered upper-tier carrier (CBDU300454). That note is your evidence of duty of care, and you should insist on one from anybody who takes waste away.

Practical reading before you book in Grays — costs, checklists and what a good job actually looks like.
