What we can show you for Southampton

  • Southampton access and housing notes

SO14, SO15, SO16, SO17, SO18, SO19 housing stock and loading reality, written for Southampton rather than the county.

Housekeeping / Cleaner in Southampton: what actually matters here

A unitary port city with two universities, a large purpose-built and converted student sector north and east of the centre, and Victorian and interwar suburbs spreading out to Bitterne, Shirley and Bassett.

The housing stock is Victorian and Edwardian terraces and large converted houses through Portswood, Highfield, St Denys and Bevois Valley, much of it in shared student occupation; interwar and post-war semis at Bitterne, Sholing, Shirley and Bassett; post-war council-built estates at Lordshill, Millbrook, Weston and Thornhill; and a substantial modern waterside flat market at Ocean Village, Chapel and the Itchen riverside, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a housekeeping / cleaner job.

Southampton is a dense city and the parking scheme decides the job. Most of SO14, SO15 and SO17 sits inside resident permit zones with limited or no visitor bays, and the terraced streets around Portswood and Bevois Valley are narrow enough that a Luton blocks them while it loads. Modern waterside blocks at Ocean Village and the Itchen riverside have height-restricted underground parking, booked service lifts and concierge sign-in. Southampton City Council is a unitary authority: it runs the city's own household waste recycling centre, its own parking rules and its own bulky-waste collections, and a Hampshire County Council tip permit is not the relevant document here.

Our Southampton footprint runs across SO14, SO15 and SO16 and takes in Portswood, Highfield, St Denys and Swaythling, all on the same housekeeping / cleaner pricing.

Southampton is one of the larger settlements in the county, and addresses around The cruise terminals and the old town walls, with the Itchen Bridge crossing east in particular tend to need the access details confirmed before the van is loaded — we ask about that at quote stage, not on the day.

What a housekeeping / cleaner job includes

Regular housekeeping is the same cleaner, on the same day, working to a list you set. It is ongoing maintenance rather than a one-off reset: kitchen, bathrooms, floors, dusting and bed changes on a weekly or fortnightly rhythm, with the visit length fixed so you know exactly what the week costs. Cleaning teams are directly employed and DBS-checked, which is why you get a named person rather than whoever is free.

Every visit

  • Kitchen surfaces, hob, sink and appliance fronts cleaned down
  • Bathrooms cleaned and disinfected — sanitary ware, screens, mirrors and floors
  • All floors vacuumed and hard floors mopped
  • Dusting of reachable surfaces, sills, shelves and skirtings
  • Beds made or changed with linen you leave out, and bins emptied

On a rota you choose

  • Inside the fridge, the microwave and the oven door glass
  • Interior windows, doors and frames
  • Under-bed and behind-sofa vacuuming
  • Ironing and laundry cycles run during the visit

How it runs

  • A named, DBS-checked cleaner on a fixed weekly or fortnightly slot
  • A written task list agreed at the start and changed whenever you ask
  • Products and machines supplied, or yours used if you prefer particular ones
  • Key-holding or a smart-lock code arranged in writing, never informally

What changes the price on a housekeeping / cleaner job

  • The first visit almost always takes longer than the routine ones. Where a home has not been cleaned to standard recently, we quote a one-off deep clean first and then the regular slot maintains it — that is cheaper than paying deep-clean effort at housekeeping frequency forever.
  • Clutter is the single biggest drag on a timed visit: a cleaner tidying is a cleaner not cleaning. Say which surfaces you want tidied and which left alone and the time goes where you want it.
  • Pets and shedding change the vacuum time noticeably; tell us at quote stage so the visit is long enough rather than always overrunning.
  • Holiday and sickness cover is arranged with a replacement from the same team, and you are told who is coming before the day — we would rather move the slot than send a stranger unannounced.

Common questions

Southampton questions, answered.

  • How quickly can you book housekeeping / cleaner in Southampton?

Same-week slots are standard in Southampton, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Hampshire, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • Do I get the same cleaner each time?

Yes, that is the point of a regular slot — a named cleaner on a fixed day. If they are on holiday or off sick we arrange cover from the same team and tell you who is coming beforehand.

  • Do I need to be home?

No. Most regular customers are at work. Key-holding or a smart-lock code is arranged in writing when the schedule is set up, so the arrangement is on record rather than a verbal favour.

  • Can I change what gets done?

Any time. The task list is yours — swap the ironing for the oven door, add the inside of the fridge one week, skip a bedroom nobody uses. Just tell us before the visit so the time is planned.

  • What is the notice period?

There is no tie-in contract. Give us reasonable notice to move or cancel a visit and there is no charge; if we turn up to a locked house with no notice, the visit is charged because the slot was held for you.
