The housing stock is Georgian and Victorian property along Fareham High Street and the old town; interwar and post-war semis through Wallington, Catisfield and Portchester; extensive 1970s to 1990s owner-occupier estates across Locks Heath, Park Gate, Sarisbury and Titchfield Common; modern development at Whiteley; and waterside housing at Warsash, Hill Head and Swanwick, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a housekeeping / cleaner job.

Fareham is comfortable to work in. The Western Wards estates — Locks Heath, Park Gate, Titchfield Common, Whiteley — are modern, with drives, garages and turning space, and the suburbs at Portchester, Wallington and Catisfield are conventional. Three things need checking first: the old High Street and the streets behind it are narrow with limited loading, the waterside lanes at Warsash, Hill Head and Titchfield village are tight and sometimes single-track, and the Whiteley boundary runs between Fareham and Winchester so the responsible council is not always the obvious one. Fareham Borough Council sets parking, collections and bulky waste; disposal is Hampshire County Council's permit-controlled sites, no trade waste accepted.

Fareham is a mid-sized town; the streets around Portchester Castle's Roman walls, the most complete in northern Europe, on the harbour's edge are the ones where we most often check loading arrangements in advance.
