We run full-house and flat removals, part-loads, single-item moves, packing and unpacking, and short-term storage across the county. Quotes are fixed against the property, the inventory and the access at both ends. We survey the awkward pieces — wardrobes, sofa beds, pianos, anything rigid — before quoting rather than discovering on the day that they will not leave the building.

Most Oxfordshire moves are either into or out of Oxford, or between two towns inside the county, and we plan the difficult end first. In practice that is almost always the Oxford end, or a historic centre like Henley, Abingdon, Wallingford, Thame or Chipping Norton where the street decides the vehicle.

Two counties in one, for a removals crew

The modern half is straightforward. Bicester, Didcot, Banbury and Carterton were built for cars: wide estate roads, drives, allocated bays and room for a Luton at the door, so a three-bedroom move loads at the front and runs to time. Kidlington and Wheatley sit just outside Oxford's parking regime and are quick for the same reason.

The historic half is not. Oxford's terraces, Henley's conservation-area streets with a single river crossing, Abingdon's lanes down to the Thames bridge, Wallingford's Saxon grid and Chipping Norton's steep Cotswold-stone slope all need a smaller vehicle, a planned stopping point and sometimes a shuttle. That is a different quote, and we say which one you are getting before you book.

Oxford's traffic schemes, and what they actually mean for a van

Two separate schemes get confused. The Zero Emission Zone is a pilot covering nine named city-centre streets, charging vehicles that drive in it between 7am and 7pm on an emissions band, with parked vehicles not charged. The traffic filters are a different thing: six camera-enforced points, applying to cars, with the trial due to start on 28 September 2026. Neither is a city-wide van charge, and no part of Oxfordshire is inside the London ULEZ — a move continuing into a London borough does enter the ULEZ, in which case we allocate a compliant vehicle and show any charge in the quote. One genuine local cost worth knowing: the direct route between Eynsham and Oxford crosses Swinford Toll Bridge, which charges vehicles, so we either route via the A40 or put the toll in writing up front.

  • Can you park a removals van on my street in Oxford?

    It depends on the street, which is why we ask for the exact address before quoting. Most of the city inside the ring road is controlled parking and many terraces are too narrow to block for long. Where a bay can be suspended or a visitor permit used, we arrange it; where it cannot, we size the vehicle down and shuttle, and that is priced into the quote rather than sprung on the day.

  • Will I be charged for Oxford's Zero Emission Zone or the traffic filters?

    Usually not. The Zero Emission Zone is a pilot over nine named central streets and charges vehicles driving within it between 7am and 7pm; most addresses are nowhere near it. The traffic filters apply to cars, not to our removals vehicles, and the trial is due to begin on 28 September 2026. Anything that genuinely applies to your job appears in the written quote.

  • Do you move students and part-loads in and out of Oxford?

    Yes — single rooms, part-loads and storage between terms are a large part of our Oxford work. Book early for the summer window, because the city's shared housing turns over within a few weeks and the diary fills first there.

  • How far in advance should I book a move in Oxfordshire?

    Two to three weeks is comfortable for most of the county. Aim for longer if you are moving in or out of Oxford in July or August, or in Henley during regatta week, when the town's roads change and the whole place fills.
