Cleaning in Berkshire

Berkshire cleaning divides into two jobs that take very different amounts of time. The first is the modern flat: the blocks around Reading station and the Kennet, the town-centre apartments in Maidenhead and Bracknell, the newer developments off the Bath Road in Slough. They are sealed, compact and quick on the floor area, but they are almost always let through an agent with an inventory clerk, so the result is decided by oven interiors, extractor filters, window tracks, shower silicone and the inside of every fitted cupboard rather than by how the carpet looks. The second is older and slower: the Victorian terraces of RG1 and RG30, the Edwardian and interwar villas in Caversham and Woodley, the Georgian frontages at Hungerford and Windsor, and the large detached houses around Ascot and Crowthorne, where rooms are big, surfaces are original and nothing vacuums in a straight line.

So we price against the property — bedrooms, bathrooms, condition and any range cooker or second oven — before a cleaner is allocated, and the figure holds unless rooms are added or the property is materially different from the description. End-of-tenancy cleans carry a 24-hour re-clean: if the clerk or the landlord marks something down within a day of check-out, we come back and put it right. Crews bring their own machines, colour-coded cloths and the products the surface actually needs, which matters on the county's period stock, where the wrong chemical on a waxed board or a stone hearth causes damage no deposit argument recovers.

Where our Berkshire cleaning cover is strongest

Reading (RG1, RG2, RG4, RG6, RG30, RG31) and Slough (SL1–SL3) carry our densest cleaning cover, because both are high-turnover rental markets rather than settled owner-occupied ones — Reading through its station-side flats and the terraced lets off the Oxford Road and in Whitley, Slough through the Bath Road corridor and the workforce housing around the trading estate. Maidenhead (SL6), Windsor (SL4), Bracknell (RG12, RG42) and Wokingham (RG40, RG41) follow, and each has a real spread of both flats and family houses.

Newbury and Thatcham (RG14, RG18, RG19), Woodley (RG5), Caversham (RG4), Ascot (SL5), Crowthorne (RG45), Sandhurst (GU47), Winnersh (RG41), Twyford (RG10), Shinfield (RG2), Binfield (RG42), Burghfield Common (RG7), Hungerford (RG17), Cookham (SL6), Datchet (SL3) and Old Windsor (SL4) are covered on the same terms. Each town has a page of its own carrying the access notes for that street pattern, so you can check where a van can stand and whether the block has a lift before you book.

M4-corridor tenancies and Thames-side period stock set the standard here

The M4 corridor between Slough and Newbury is one of the busiest employment belts outside London, and Elizabeth line services from Reading, Twyford, Maidenhead, Taplow and Slough put a large part of the county inside a direct commute. That produces a rental market run to London timings: keys back late morning, clerk in at midday, deposit decided that afternoon. We book the clean to land before the check-out rather than after it, and photograph the finish so a disagreement is settled with evidence instead of memory.

The other half of the county needs a different hand. Windsor's centre sits under the Castle in a dense conservation area, Hungerford's High Street is Georgian, Cookham, Datchet and Old Windsor keep Thames-side cottages, and Caversham and central Reading hold streets of unmodernised Victorian stock. Sash boxes, lime plaster, original boards and stone hearths all rule out the aggressive alkaline products that make a modern flat fast. We say at quote stage which surfaces we will treat differently and why, rather than discovering it with a chemical burn on someone's floor.

Common questions

Cleaning in Berkshire, answered.

  • Do your Berkshire end-of-tenancy cleans come with a guarantee?

Yes. Every end-of-tenancy clean carries a 24-hour re-clean guarantee: if your landlord, agent or inventory clerk marks something down within 24 hours of check-out, we return and put it right at no extra cost. Tell us the check-out time when you book so the clean lands before the clerk arrives.

  • How far ahead should I book a Reading or Slough tenancy clean?

Month-end is the busy window everywhere in the county, and the last Friday and Saturday of the month go first. Book one to two weeks ahead for those dates. Outside them, same-week slots are normal across Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Maidenhead and Newbury, and midweek next-day is often available.

  • Can you clean a period property in Windsor or Hungerford safely?

Yes, and we plan for it. Sash windows, lime plaster, waxed boards and stone hearths need pH-neutral products and hand finishing rather than strong alkalines and machines. Tell us at quote stage what the surfaces are, or send photographs, and we confirm the method before the visit.

  • Is the oven included in a Berkshire end-of-tenancy clean?

Yes — single ovens, hobs, extractor hoods and filters are inside the standard price, not an add-on. Range cookers, second ovens and American fridge-freezers are quoted separately because they genuinely take longer, and that appears in the written quote rather than on the day.

  • Do you clean flats in blocks with no lift?

Yes. Stair access changes a removal price far more than a cleaning price, so for cleaning it changes almost nothing — we only need to know the floor and whether there is anywhere legal to park while equipment is carried in.

  • Do you bring your own equipment and products?

Yes. Crews carry vacuums, machines, colour-coded cloths and the chemicals the surfaces need. If you would rather we used a specific product on a stone worktop or a wood floor, leave it out and tell us — we will use it.
