What we can show you for Great Wakering

Here is what our rubbish & waste disposal work around Great Wakering looks like in practice.

  • Great Wakering access and housing notes

SS3 housing stock and loading reality, written for Great Wakering rather than the county.

Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Great Wakering: what actually matters here

A Rochford-district village east of Southend towards the Foulness marshes, historically a brickmaking settlement.

The housing stock is Post-war and late-20th-century estate housing with older cottages along the High Street, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a rubbish & waste disposal job.

The village is at the end of the road network before the MoD land at Foulness, so there is no through route; High Street cottages load directly onto the carriageway.

A rubbish & waste disposal in Great Wakering is planned around where the van can stand and how far the crew carries — those two things move the price more than the address does.

Great Wakering, Little Wakering, Barling, Shoeburyness and Star Lane all sit inside the Great Wakering round. Whichever of SS3 your address falls in, the rubbish & waste disposal quote is built the same way.

The van covering Great Wakering is usually working southend-on-sea, rochford and hockley-and-hawkwell in the same week, so we can move a rubbish & waste disposal booking a day either way without a travel charge.

Great Wakering is a smaller town; the streets around The Wakering brickfields and the Foulness marsh edge are the ones where we most often check loading arrangements in advance.

Work between Great Wakering and southend-on-sea and rochford is routine for the team, so cross-town rubbish & waste disposal bookings do not carry a travel premium.

Every Great Wakering quote starts from the address itself. Two SS3 properties a few streets apart can need different crew sizes for the same rubbish & waste disposal.

Great Wakering is planned as Great Wakering (SS3), Little Wakering (SS3) and Barling (SS3) and the streets around them, which is how the crew knows the approach in advance.

6 named areas make up our Great Wakering coverage. Great Wakering and Samuels Drive are the outer markers, SS3 the postcode span.

We confirm the Great Wakering slot in writing with a time window, and the crew calls from southend-on-sea or rochford when they set off.

What a rubbish & waste disposal job includes

Rubbish removal is man-and-van waste collection: we load it, we sweep up and we dispose of it legally. Pricing is by the volume of the van you actually fill — £65 minimum collection for a single item, £110 a quarter load, £180 a half load, £240 three-quarters and £310 for a full load of roughly 12 cubic yards — with labour and tip fees included. It is not a skip: nothing needs a permit, nothing sits on your drive for a week, and you are not the one carrying it out.

What we take

  • Household and office rubbish, bagged or loose
  • Furniture, sofas, wardrobes, desks and office chairs
  • White goods and electricals through the WEEE route
  • Bulky one-offs — mattresses, carpets, garden furniture, exercise equipment
  • Building and refurbishment waste as a separately priced heavy stream

How the collection runs

  • Two-person crew who carry it out — from the room, the garage or the garden, not just the kerb
  • Loading route protected and the area brushed up before we leave
  • Volume measured against the van and confirmed with you before loading, so the price is agreed not estimated
  • Same-day and next-day slots where a van is already in the area

Disposal and paperwork

  • Registered upper-tier waste carrier, Environment Agency CBDU300454
  • Usable items offered to charity partners before anything is treated as waste
  • Loads segregated at a licensed transfer station, with over 90% diverted from landfill
  • Digital waste transfer note issued in your name, usually the same day

What changes the price on a rubbish & waste disposal job

  • Heavy waste — soil, rubble, hardcore, plasterboard — is charged as its own stream by weight rather than volume, because that is how the transfer station charges us.
  • Asbestos, clinical waste, chemicals, fuel and gas bottles are outside our licence and are sub-contracted to a licensed handler rather than loaded.
  • Always take the transfer note. Householders have a legal duty of care for their waste, and fly-tipped rubbish traced back to your address is your problem unless you can show who took it.
  • Volume is the price, so how it is stacked matters. Broken-down flat-pack and flattened cardboard take a fraction of the space of the same items whole, and that difference is real money.
  • Some items carry a per-item charge because the permitted facility charges them separately: fridges and freezers need degassing from £45, and mattresses, tyres, paint and upholstered seating covered by the POPs rules have their own disposal route. These are quoted before the van arrives.

About Great Wakering

Great Wakering lies east of Southend on the way to the Foulness marshes, a former brickmaking village that is now mostly post-war and late-20th-century estate housing with a scatter of older cottages along the High Street. Estate properties load easily; the High Street cottages have no off-street parking and load straight onto the carriageway, which is why town-centre jobs here take an early slot.

It is also a dead end in the literal sense: the road network stops at the Ministry of Defence land beyond the village, so there is no through route and everything arrives and leaves the same way. That makes scheduling simple but unforgiving, and we book a realistic window rather than a hopeful one. The address is in Rochford district under Essex County Council, where recycling centres are booking-only and a van needs a permit — our clearances leave under our own upper-tier carrier licence with a transfer note, so neither applies to you.

Common questions

Great Wakering questions, answered.

  • How much does rubbish & waste disposal cost in Great Wakering?

Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Great Wakering (SS3) starts from £95. The final figure is fixed before booking and reflects the size of the property, the floor level and the access — which in Great Wakering usually means the village is at the end of the road network before the MoD land at Foulness, so there is no through route; High Street cottages load directly onto the carriageway.

  • Do you cover the whole of Great Wakering?

Yes — every SS3 street, plus the surrounding Essex towns. Crews are routed within the county rather than dispatched from London, so short-notice slots are realistic.

  • Are you insured for rubbish & waste disposal work?

We carry £1m public liability cover and hold Environment Agency waste carrier licence CBDU300454. Certificates are available on request and the details are published on our trust and credentials page.

  • How quickly can you book rubbish & waste disposal in Great Wakering?

Same-week slots are standard in Great Wakering, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • How does this compare with hiring a skip?

A skip needs a permit on the road, sits there for days, and you load it yourself. A van collection is loaded by us, gone the same visit, and priced by what you actually fill rather than by the skip size you had to guess.

  • Can you come today?

Often, depending on where the van already is that morning. Same-day and next-day slots are normal for quarter and half loads; a full house-worth of waste is better booked in so we send the right crew and van count.

  • What proof do I get that it was disposed of legally?

A digital waste transfer note in your name, usually the same day, from an Environment Agency registered upper-tier carrier (CBDU300454). That note is your evidence of duty of care, and you should insist on one from anybody who takes waste away.
