Clearance & Disposal services in Oxfordshire
Anything a clearance company removes from your Oxfordshire home is commercial waste in law, and the county council says so in plain terms — so where it goes, and the paperwork you get, matters as much as the price.

Clearance & Disposal in Oxfordshire
We clear houses, flats, single rooms, garages, lofts, sheds and gardens, including probate and end-of-tenancy clearances where a property has to be emptied to a deadline. We sort for reuse and recycling first, we quote on volume and access rather than by a vague hourly rate, and we issue a waste transfer note for everything we take away.
We will also tell you what we cannot take, or what costs extra, before the van arrives: fridges and freezers, mattresses, tyres, paint and chemicals, plasterboard and construction waste are all handled differently, and pretending otherwise on the phone only produces an argument on the day.
Access and disposal distance set the price
Clearance is the division where Oxfordshire's geography shows up most clearly in the quote. Banbury sits by junction 11 of the M40 and Wheatley by junction 8, so a same-day return to a licensed transfer station is realistic and the price reflects it. Chipping Norton, Faringdon and the Cotswold and downland villages are a longer disposal run, and we show that rather than hiding it in a rate.
At the property, the split is the same one that runs through the county: drives and space in Bicester, Didcot, Carterton and the estate edges of Banbury and Witney; narrow, timed or one-way loading in Oxford, Henley, Abingdon, Wallingford, Thame and Chipping Norton, where a smaller vehicle and a shuttle is genuinely faster than a large one that cannot get close.
Why we cannot use an Oxfordshire recycling centre for your clearance
Oxfordshire County Council is explicit: waste from a house removal or clearance company, from a 'man with a van', or from a landlord bringing tenanted waste counts as commercial waste, and it cannot go to the household waste recycling centres — the one exception being the trade area at Redbridge. The household scheme is for residents disposing of their own waste: every visit has to be booked in advance, vans, open-backed pick-ups, N1-classified vehicles and trailers up to 2.4m need a permit issued only to Oxfordshire households and valid for ten visits a year, and box, caged and Luton vans, tippers, business-branded vehicles and anything over 3.5 tonnes are refused outright. So if you are doing it yourself, book the slot and get the permit first. If we are doing it, the load goes to a licensed commercial facility and you receive the waste transfer note — and any quote from anyone that depends on tipping your clearance at a county household site is not a legitimate one.

Clearance & Disposal across Oxfordshire
Clearance & Disposal in Oxfordshire, answered.
Can you take my clearance to an Oxfordshire recycling centre?
No, and legitimately no contractor can. Oxfordshire County Council classifies waste brought by a removal or clearance company, a man with a van, or a landlord clearing a tenanted property as commercial waste, and its household sites do not accept it apart from the trade area at Redbridge. Everything we clear goes to a licensed commercial facility and you get the waste transfer note for it.
I want to do it myself — what do I need?
Book your visit in advance, because all Oxfordshire household waste recycling centre visits are booked. If you are using a van, an open-backed pick-up, an N1-classified vehicle or a trailer up to 2.4 metres you also need a van and trailer permit, which is issued only to Oxfordshire households and covers ten visits in twelve months. Box, caged and Luton vans, tippers, sign-written vehicles and anything over 3.5 tonnes are not admitted at all.
Do you handle probate and bereavement clearances?
Yes. We work to your timetable, set aside anything you have asked us to look for rather than assuming, sort for reuse and charity donation where the items allow it, and keep the paperwork clean for an estate — an itemised quote and a waste transfer note for the load.
How do you price a clearance?
On volume and access, quoted in writing before we start. Access matters as much as volume here: a first-floor flat on a narrow Oxford terrace with no loading bay takes far longer than the same contents in a Bicester house with a drive, and the quote should say so rather than the invoice.
