Clearance & Disposal in Berkshire
Clearance is priced by what actually goes in the van and how far it is carried to get there. A single-garage clear-out and a full three-bedroom probate house are different jobs even when the address looks the same, so we ask for photographs of the whole space rather than the worst corner, and quote a fixed figure covering labour, loading, transport and disposal. Items that cost more to dispose of than to carry — fridges and freezers, mattresses, tyres, paint and other hazardous items, plasterboard — are named in the quote instead of appearing as a surprise on the day.
We are a registered waste carrier, and every load leaves with a waste transfer note. That document matters: fly-tipped waste is traced back to the householder who handed it over, and a transfer note is the evidence that you used a licensed carrier. We recycle and re-use what we can, and where a clearance produces genuinely usable furniture and household goods we will divert it to a charity or re-use outlet on request rather than tipping it.
Where our Berkshire clearance cover is strongest
Reading (RG1, RG2, RG4, RG6, RG30, RG31), Slough (SL1–SL3), Bracknell (RG12, RG42) and Maidenhead (SL6) carry the most clearance work, and each brings a different constraint: terraced streets with no off-street loading, flats above shops, new-town parking courts, and managed blocks that require documentation before a contractor is let in.
Windsor (SL4), Newbury and Thatcham (RG14, RG18, RG19), Wokingham (RG40, RG41), Woodley (RG5), Caversham (RG4), Ascot (SL5), Crowthorne (RG45), Sandhurst (GU47), Twyford (RG10), Winnersh (RG41), Shinfield (RG2), Binfield (RG42), Burghfield Common (RG7), Hungerford (RG17), Cookham (SL6), Datchet (SL3) and Old Windsor (SL4) are covered on the same terms, including garden clearance and single-item collections.
Six councils, six sets of tip rules — and none of them take contractor waste
Berkshire has no county council, so household waste recycling is run six different ways. Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell Forest share the re3 partnership's centres at Smallmead (Island Road, RG2 0RP) and Longshot Lane (RG12 1RL). West Berkshire runs Newtown Road in Newbury and Padworth, both on a registered permit plus a booked appointment. Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead residents use Stafferton Way in Maidenhead, and Slough residents use Chalvey on White Hart Road. Which one applies to you follows your council, not your postal town — Earley has an RG6 Reading address but is in Wokingham Borough, and Purley on Thames adjoins Reading but is West Berkshire.
All of those sites exist for residents' own household waste. None of them will accept a load a contractor is carrying on your behalf, which is why our clearances tip at licensed commercial transfer stations and come back with a transfer note rather than a receipt from a council site. If you are clearing a small amount yourself, use your own council's centre and check its permit and booking rules first; if you want it taken away, that is the job we are licensed to do.

Clearance & Disposal across Berkshire
Clearance & Disposal in Berkshire, answered.
How is a Berkshire house clearance priced?
On the volume that goes into the van and the carry out of the property, agreed in writing before we start. Send photographs of every room or space involved, including the loft, garage and garden, and we will price the whole job rather than quoting low and adding to it on the day.
Do you provide a waste transfer note?
Yes, with every load. We are a registered waste carrier and the note is your evidence that the waste left with a licensed carrier — worth keeping, because responsibility for fly-tipped waste follows back to whoever handed it over.
Can you take my rubbish to the local recycling centre?
No. The re3 centres at Smallmead and Longshot Lane, West Berkshire's Newtown Road and Padworth sites, Stafferton Way in Maidenhead and Chalvey in Slough all take household waste from residents, not waste carried by a contractor. Our loads go to licensed commercial transfer stations instead.
Do you handle probate and end-of-life clearances?
Yes, and they are worked slowly and carefully. We set aside documents, photographs, jewellery and anything that looks personal for the family to check before it is moved on, and we can clear in stages if the property is being sold or re-let to a deadline.
What about fridges, mattresses and paint?
We take them, and they are priced separately because their disposal is separately regulated and separately charged. Tell us what you have when you ask for a quote and the figures appear in writing, not on the day.
Can you clear a garden or a garage only?
Yes. Garden clearance, garage and loft clear-outs and single-item collections are all normal bookings. For garden work we price on the volume of green waste and any hardscape or fencing that is coming out, and we will tell you honestly if a skip would be cheaper for your job.
