TV Wall Mounting in Harwich & Dovercourt: what actually matters here
A working North Sea ferry port at the mouth of the Stour and Orwell, joined to the Victorian resort suburb of Dovercourt.
The housing stock is Dense historic Old Town streets, Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Dovercourt, and post-war estates inland at Parkeston, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a tv wall mounting job.
Old Town streets are narrow, cobbled in places and unsuitable for anything larger than a transit, so removals there are shuttled. Port traffic peaks around ferry sailings, and this is the most remote corner of the county for a same-day return run.
Harwich & Dovercourt is quoted as a whole: Harwich Old Town, Dovercourt, Parkeston, Bathside and Upper Dovercourt are on the same tv wall mounting rate as anywhere else inside CO12.
As a smaller town built around Harwich International Port and the Harwich Redoubt Fort, Harwich & Dovercourt has a mix of approach roads and loading points, so we confirm parking and carry distance when you book rather than assuming.
What a tv wall mounting job includes
TV wall mounting is a flat £85: the bracket fitted and the cables tidied. The job is mostly judgement before it is drilling — establishing what the wall is actually made of, whether it will carry the screen, where the cables and pipes run, and what viewing height stops you watching a television angled at the ceiling. Fixed, tilting and full-motion brackets all load the wall differently, and the fixing is chosen for the wall rather than for the box the bracket came in.
Before drilling
- Wall construction identified — solid brick, block, stud, dot-and-dab or lath and plaster
- Cable, pipe and stud detection across the whole mounting area
- Viewing height set from your seating position, not from a default measurement
- Bracket VESA pattern and weight rating checked against the actual screen
The install
- Fixings matched to the wall type — through-bolts into masonry, correct spanning of studs on plasterboard
- Bracket set level and load-tested before the screen goes on
- Screen mounted and the tilt or swing arm set and checked through its full travel
- Power and HDMI runs connected and the picture tested before we leave
Cables and tidy-up
- Cables routed into trunking, or concealed in the wall cavity where the construction allows it
- Soundbar, console and streaming boxes positioned and connected
- Holes made good and dust vacuumed as we go
- Old bracket removed and holes filled if a previous mount is coming down
What changes the price on a tv wall mounting job
- Above a fireplace looks tidy and usually sits too high to watch comfortably, and heat is a real consideration on a working fire. We will fit it there if you want it there, but we will tell you what we think first.
- Concealing cables inside the wall depends on the construction and on whether a mains socket needs moving — a socket relocation is electrical work, quoted separately and not bundled in as though it were part of a bracket fit.
- Very large or very heavy screens on stud walls may need noggins fitted between the studs before mounting; that is joinery time on top of the flat mounting price and is quoted before we start.
- We will not mount a screen onto a wall we judge unsafe for its weight. Saying no is cheaper for you than a television on the floor.
- Dot-and-dab is the wall that catches people out: it looks solid, but the plasterboard is on dabs with a void behind, so the fixing has to reach the masonry rather than grip the board.

Harwich & Dovercourt questions, answered.
How quickly can you book tv wall mounting in Harwich & Dovercourt?
Same-week slots are standard in Harwich & Dovercourt, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Essex, so book those a week or two ahead.
Can you hide the cables in the wall?
On a stud or dot-and-dab wall, usually yes. On solid masonry it means chasing and making good, which is a bigger job — so most solid walls get neat trunking instead, and we show you both options before drilling.
What height should the TV be?
Centre of the screen roughly at eye level from where you actually sit. We set it from your sofa rather than from a rule of thumb, because the same height in two rooms gives two very different experiences.
Do you supply the bracket?
You can supply your own and we will check it is rated for the screen, or tell us the model and we will advise what type suits the wall. Fixings and consumables come with the tradesperson as standard.
