Rubbish & Waste Disposal in Eastleigh: what actually matters here

A railway town created by the London and South Western Railway works, now the centre of a borough that runs from the airport and the Itchen valley out to the wooded commuter suburb of Chandler's Ford.

The housing stock is Grid-pattern Victorian railway terraces across the centre of Eastleigh, most without off-street parking; interwar and post-war semis at Boyatt Wood, Bishopstoke and Allbrook; large detached and semi-detached commuter housing through Chandler's Ford, Hiltingbury and Valley Park; and modern estate development at Horton Heath and Fair Oak, which decides the tools, protection and crew size we bring to a rubbish & waste disposal job.

The town divides sharply. Eastleigh's Victorian core is a tight terraced grid laid out for the railway works, with on-street-only parking, narrow carriageways and pressure from station and airport parking during the working day, so we plan the stopping point and often bring a smaller vehicle. Chandler's Ford, Hiltingbury and Valley Park are the opposite — wide wooded roads, long drives, garages and ample turning space. Fair Oak, Bishopstoke and Horton Heath sit in between. Eastleigh Borough Council sets parking, collections and bulky waste; disposal goes through Hampshire County Council's permit-controlled sites, which take no trade waste.

We treat Eastleigh as one service area: Chandler's Ford, Hiltingbury, Valley Park and Bishopstoke and the rest of SO50 and SO53 share the same rubbish & waste disposal price list and the same crews.

Eastleigh is a mid-sized town; the streets around Southampton Airport and the Eastleigh railway works site alongside the main line are the ones where we most often check loading arrangements in advance.

What a rubbish & waste disposal job includes

Rubbish removal is man-and-van waste collection: we load it, we sweep up and we dispose of it legally. Pricing is by the volume of the van you actually fill — £65 minimum collection for a single item, £110 a quarter load, £180 a half load, £240 three-quarters and £310 for a full load of roughly 12 cubic yards — with labour and tip fees included. It is not a skip: nothing needs a permit, nothing sits on your drive for a week, and you are not the one carrying it out.

What we take

  • Household and office rubbish, bagged or loose
  • Furniture, sofas, wardrobes, desks and office chairs
  • White goods and electricals through the WEEE route
  • Bulky one-offs — mattresses, carpets, garden furniture, exercise equipment
  • Building and refurbishment waste as a separately priced heavy stream

How the collection runs

  • Two-person crew who carry it out — from the room, the garage or the garden, not just the kerb
  • Loading route protected and the area brushed up before we leave
  • Volume measured against the van and confirmed with you before loading, so the price is agreed not estimated
  • Same-day and next-day slots where a van is already in the area

Disposal and paperwork

  • Registered upper-tier waste carrier, Environment Agency CBDU300454
  • Usable items offered to charity partners before anything is treated as waste
  • Loads segregated at a licensed transfer station, with over 90% diverted from landfill
  • Digital waste transfer note issued in your name, usually the same day

What changes the price on a rubbish & waste disposal job

  • Always take the transfer note. Householders have a legal duty of care for their waste, and fly-tipped rubbish traced back to your address is your problem unless you can show who took it.
  • Volume is the price, so how it is stacked matters. Broken-down flat-pack and flattened cardboard take a fraction of the space of the same items whole, and that difference is real money.
  • Some items carry a per-item charge because the permitted facility charges them separately: fridges and freezers need degassing from £45, and mattresses, tyres, paint and upholstered seating covered by the POPs rules have their own disposal route. These are quoted before the van arrives.
  • Heavy waste — soil, rubble, hardcore, plasterboard — is charged as its own stream by weight rather than volume, because that is how the transfer station charges us.
  • Asbestos, clinical waste, chemicals, fuel and gas bottles are outside our licence and are sub-contracted to a licensed handler rather than loaded.

Amazing service. They dismantled and removed and old running machine for me. It was very heavy. They were very careful of my mosaic floors on the hall. Very easy to use. They were very responsive to book. Arrived promptly and were fast and efficient. I recommend them.

Common questions

Eastleigh questions, answered.

  • How quickly can you book rubbish & waste disposal in Eastleigh?

Same-week slots are standard in Eastleigh, with next-day often available midweek. Month-end tenancy changeovers are the busiest window across Hampshire, so book those a week or two ahead.

  • How does this compare with hiring a skip?

A skip needs a permit on the road, sits there for days, and you load it yourself. A van collection is loaded by us, gone the same visit, and priced by what you actually fill rather than by the skip size you had to guess.

  • Can you come today?

Often, depending on where the van already is that morning. Same-day and next-day slots are normal for quarter and half loads; a full house-worth of waste is better booked in so we send the right crew and van count.

  • What proof do I get that it was disposed of legally?

A digital waste transfer note in your name, usually the same day, from an Environment Agency registered upper-tier carrier (CBDU300454). That note is your evidence of duty of care, and you should insist on one from anybody who takes waste away.
