The method matters more than the machine: block paving and concrete take a rotary flat-surface cleaner at working pressure, while render, painted masonry and older slabs take a soft wash with a cleaning solution and low pressure, because a lance held too close permanently scars soft stone and blows the joints out of paving.

- Loose growth, moss and debris swept and scraped off
