Domestic prices are the total you pay. Commercial and landlord invoices are quoted plus VAT at 20%. ULEZ, the Congestion Charge where it applies, permits and bay suspensions are itemised in the written quote, never added afterwards.
Working in London
A Victorian or Edwardian conversion in Islington, Hackney, Camden, Lambeth or Wandsworth usually has a boxed sash window with a shallow reveal and a soft lime-plaster face. Top-fixing into that plaster holds a blind for about a fortnight.
We fix into the timber sash box or the render behind it, and where the reveal is under 50mm we face-fix above the opening instead so the blind still clears the sash horns when it is raised.
Council-built and 1960s–80s blocks across Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Barking typically have a pre-cast concrete lintel directly above the window. It is the strongest thing in the room and the hardest to drill.
That needs an SDS drill and the right bit, not a combi on hammer setting. We carry both, plus the dust extraction that stops concrete dust settling across a freshly painted reveal.
New-build flats in Nine Elms, Greenwich Peninsula and the Olympic Park corridor are often uPVC frames in plasterboard reveals with a void behind. Screwing into the frame can void the window warranty and can pierce the drainage channel.
We use no-drill tension brackets where the frame allows, or bridge the plasterboard void into the blockwork behind. Whichever we use, we tell you before we start.
Many London leases specify a uniform blind colour to the street elevation, and most managing agents ask for the £5m public liability certificate before a contractor drills anything in a communal-facing room. We send both at booking.
Every corded blind is fitted with the safety device and cleat required by BS EN 13120, positioned 1.5m from the floor. In a let property that is the landlord's legal obligation, not an optional extra.

£45 for the first blind and £25 for each additional blind on the same visit. A curtain pole or straight track is £55, a bay window pole or bent track from £120, and a motorised blind from £95 per window. ULEZ, the Congestion Charge where it applies and a visitor parking permit are already inside those prices.
Usually yes. No-drill tension brackets clamp to the sash of most uPVC casement windows and hold a roller or venetian blind without a single hole, which keeps the window warranty intact. They are not suitable for heavy wooden venetians or blackout Roman blinds, and we will say so before you buy.
Yes, and it is the job we do most in London terraces. A bay is measured angle by angle because almost none are symmetrical, then the track is bent or the blinds are cut to individual drops so the returns meet cleanly at each corner.
If the blinds are already bought we fit to what you have. If they are not, we can measure the reveals on a first visit and give you the exact widths and drops to order, including whether each window is a recess or an exact fit — the two figures are not the same and ordering the wrong one is the single most common mistake.
Every fitter carries £5m public liability cover and we send the certificate to the managing agent at booking. Where a block requires a method statement or a DBS-checked contractor, tell us at booking and we supply it before the visit.
Yes. Old poles, tracks and brackets come down, the redundant holes are filled and sanded flush ready for paint, and blind packaging leaves with us through our registered-carrier route rather than going in the communal bin store.
Every corded blind is fitted with the breakaway device or cleat required by BS EN 13120, set 1.5m from the floor. In a rented property this is a landlord obligation and we photograph the fitted device as part of the job record.
