Cleaning, moving, handyman & clearance in West Sussex

West Sussex is a two-tier county and the split decides how a job is run. West Sussex County Council is the disposal authority: its household waste recycling sites operate a permit scheme for vans, pick-ups and trailers, and none of them accept trade waste from a contractor. Parking, bulky-waste collections and street rules belong to the district and borough councils instead — Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex, Chichester, Arun, Adur and Worthing — and they are not the same as each other. Brighton and Hove sits immediately to the east and is a separate unitary authority; its parking and tip rules stop at the county line.

Hello Services cleaning team standing with their branded van, extraction machine and colour-coded cleaning kit

End of tenancy, deep cleans, carpets and ovens — for tenants, landlords and busy households.

End-of-tenancy, deep, after-builders and regular cleaning across Crawley's airport rental belt, Worthing's seafront flats and managed blocks, and the family housing in Horsham, Haywards Heath and Chichester, with a 24-hour re-clean guarantee.

Hello Services removals crew standing at the tail lift of a loaded Luton van on a house removal job

Man with a van and full house removals, local or long distance, with no hidden mileage charges.

Hello Services handymen in branded orange uniform assembling flat-pack furniture while a colleague mounts a TV on the wall

Flat-pack and furniture assembly, TV mounting, shelving and the small repairs that stack up.

Furniture assembly, TV mounting, shelving, hanging and small repairs, priced by the job and the fixing — with the wall tested first, because Chichester and Horsham conservation-area property will not take a standard plug.

Licensed rubbish removal, house and garage clearances, with a waste transfer note supplied.

House, flat, garage, garden and probate clearance by registered waste carriers, priced on the volume actually filled, with a waste transfer note on every job.

Working across West Sussex

The property is just as varied. Crawley is a planned new town of thirteen neighbourhoods laid out for vehicles, with a large rented sector serving Gatwick shift workers. Worthing runs from Regency seafront conversions and managed retirement blocks in BN11 to interwar suburbs with drives at Goring and Durrington. Horsham and Chichester both have historic, tightly parked centres — Horsham's pedestrianised Carfax and Causeway, Chichester's walled Roman grid and the Georgian Pallants — ringed by modern estates that load at the door. Haywards Heath is a commuter town where station overspill takes the kerb space before seven in the morning. Access, not load size, is what usually moves the price here.

We cover five West Sussex towns today: Crawley, Worthing, Horsham, Haywards Heath and Chichester, across the RH10–RH20, BN11–BN14 and PO18–PO20 postcode districts. Towns where we have completed work but have not yet written a full local record — Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, Bognor Regis, Shoreham-by-Sea, Littlehampton, Steyning and Storrington among them — are covered from the nearest town page rather than given a page that would only repeat the county. We would rather have five pages worth reading than sixteen that are not.

Two practical points up front. No part of West Sussex is inside the London Ultra Low Emission Zone, so nothing we do inside the county attracts that charge; a job that continues into a London borough does enter the zone, and we allocate a compliant vehicle and show any charge in the quote rather than adding it later. And no contractor can tip your waste at a council household site, whatever van it arrives in — anything we clear goes to a licensed transfer station and you receive the waste transfer note for it.

Common questions

West Sussex questions, answered.

  • Which council covers my West Sussex address?

Two of them. West Sussex County Council handles waste disposal and runs the household waste recycling sites. Your district or borough council — Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex, Chichester, Arun, Adur or Worthing — handles parking, bin collections and bulky-waste pickups. Brighton and Hove is a separate unitary authority and its rules do not apply to a West Sussex address, even one a mile from the boundary.

  • Can you take my waste to a West Sussex recycling centre?

No, and no other contractor can either. West Sussex County Council's sites are for residents disposing of their own household waste, with a permit required for a van, pick-up or trailer, and they do not accept trade waste. Everything we clear goes to a licensed commercial transfer station instead, and you get the waste transfer note.

  • Is any part of West Sussex inside the London ULEZ?

No. The county is well outside Greater London. If your job continues into a London borough it enters the Ultra Low Emission Zone, in which case we allocate a compliant vehicle and show any charge in the written quote before you book.

  • Which West Sussex towns do you cover?

Crawley, Worthing, Horsham, Haywards Heath and Chichester have their own pages. We also work in Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, Bognor Regis, Shoreham-by-Sea, Littlehampton, Steyning and Storrington, covered from the nearest town page. If your postcode is not listed, send it with your quote request and we will confirm availability.

  • Do you have a crew based in West Sussex?

We do not hold a named West Sussex crew record, so we will not claim one. Work here is covered by vetted, insured teams that already run jobs in the county, and the price is agreed in writing before anyone starts. When a West Sussex crew record exists, it will be named on these pages.

  • Can you work around Gatwick shift patterns in Crawley?

Yes — it is normal there. A large part of the rented housing in RH10 and RH11 is let to airport and hotel staff on rotating shifts, so we book early starts, evenings and weekends rather than assuming office hours. Tell us the shift you are working around when you request the quote.

  • How do you handle Horsham's and Chichester's pedestrianised centres?

With a loading window agreed in advance, or a costed carry from the nearest legal stopping point. Horsham's Carfax and Causeway and Chichester's walled centre both have timed vehicle access and narrow, listed streets, so we plan the vehicle and the route before quoting instead of finding out on the day.

  • How is work priced in West Sussex?

Against the property and its access, in writing, before we start. Removals on volume, floors, lifts and carry distance; clearance on the van volume actually filled plus separately handled items; cleaning on rooms and condition; handyman work on the job and the fixing required. Our rate card is national — the figure does not change because the postcode is RH or PO.

Practical reading before you book in West Sussex — costs, checklists and what a good job actually looks like.
