Cleaning, moving, handyman & clearance in Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire is a commuter county with an unusually wide spread of housing, and that spread is what shapes every job we do here. Within twenty miles you move from Georgian townhouses below St Albans Abbey and timber-framed frontages around Hitchin Market Place, through the Arts and Crafts cottages of Letchworth and the neo-Georgian terraces of Welwyn Garden City, to the post-war neighbourhoods of Hemel Hempstead and Stevenage and the apartment towers rising beside Watford Junction. A price built for one of those is wrong for the others, so we quote against the property and the access rather than against a clock.

Every service we run across Hertfordshire

Each page carries Hertfordshire prices, what the job includes and the towns we cover for it.

Working across Hertfordshire

We cover forty-two Hertfordshire settlements, from the larger towns — Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Cheshunt, Borehamwood and Bushey — through Berkhamsted, Tring, Harpenden, Rickmansworth, Hoddesdon, Ware, Royston, Baldock and Potters Bar, down to the smaller towns and large villages between them. Between them they span WD, AL, HP, SG, CM23 and EN postcodes and ten district councils, which matters more than it sounds: bulky-waste rules, parking enforcement and permit schemes are set district by district, not county-wide.

Two county-wide facts are worth stating plainly before you book. First, none of Hertfordshire is inside the London Ultra Low Emission Zone — not even Bushey, Borehamwood or Cheshunt, which sit directly on the Harrow, Barnet and Enfield boundaries and carry London-style postcodes. A job that continues into London does enter the zone, so we allocate the van against the destination and show any charge in the quote. Second, Hertfordshire County Council's household waste recycling centres are controlled by a free ePass tied to a Hertfordshire address and a named vehicle, with van and trailer passes limited to a set number of visits a year, and they do not accept waste carried by a contractor on your behalf. That is why our clearances tip at licensed commercial transfer stations and come with a waste transfer note.

Every town below has its own page with the street-level detail that actually changes a price: where a van can legally stand, how far a crew will carry, whether the block has a lift, and what kind of wall a bracket is going into.

Common questions

Hertfordshire questions, answered.

  • Is any part of Hertfordshire inside the London ULEZ?

No. Hertfordshire is outside Greater London, so no town we cover is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone — including Bushey, Borehamwood and Cheshunt on the London boundary. If your job continues into London it enters the zone, and we allocate a compliant van and show any charge in the quote rather than adding it later.

  • Do I need a permit to use a Hertfordshire recycling centre?

Yes. Hertfordshire County Council requires a free ePass registered to a Hertfordshire address and to the vehicle you arrive in, and van and trailer passes are limited to a set number of visits per year. The centres take household waste from residents only, so waste a contractor is carrying for you cannot go through them.

  • Which Hertfordshire towns do you cover?

Forty-two towns and larger settlements across the county, including Watford, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford, Bishop's Stortford, Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Cheshunt, Borehamwood, Bushey, Berkhamsted, Tring, Harpenden, Rickmansworth, Ware, Hoddesdon, Royston, Baldock and Potters Bar — covering WD, AL, HP, SG, CM and EN postcode districts. Villages between them are covered from the nearest town.

  • How do you price work in Hertfordshire?

Against the property and its access, in writing, before we start. For removals that means volume, carry distance, floors and lifts; for clearance, van volume plus any separately handled items; for cleaning, room count and condition; for handyman work, the job and its fixings. The agreed figure holds unless what we find is materially different from what you described.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold waste carrier registration for clearance work and carry public liability and goods-in-transit cover across all divisions. Certificates are available on request, which building managers in Watford's and Hemel Hempstead's apartment blocks often ask for before contractors are admitted.

  • Can you combine services on one visit?

Yes, and it is usually cheaper. A garage or loft clearance on removal day, or an end-of-tenancy clean immediately after the van leaves, is common across the county. Tell us everything you need when you ask for the quote and we will schedule it as one job.

Cosmina and co. worked hard and did a great job. They worked tirelessly to transform a house, a bit neglected due to busyness and work, into a sparkle. Apart from a 15 minute break, for a drink, they did not stop working and did and excellent job.
