Cleaning, moving, handyman & clearance in Hedge End

A large modern town east of Southampton that grew from a village into one of the biggest settlements in Eastleigh borough, with major retail parks, new estates and the older village core at Botley beside it. Fixed prices are confirmed before we arrive, and every crew working SO30 is insured to £1m.

A town built since the 1980s: drives at the door, turning heads on the estates, and village lanes next door.

Hedge End in practice

Hedge End is a modern town and it behaves like one. The overwhelming majority of the housing went up from the 1980s onwards at Grange Park, Dowd's Farm, Shamblehurst and Wildern, on layouts that assumed cars, so drives, garages and turning heads are the norm and access rarely limits a job. What that housing age does change is the type of work: much of the diary here is after-builders cleaning on extensions and loft conversions, garage and loft clearances, and short-distance family removals rather than long-haul moves.

Two exceptions are worth naming before booking. Some of the newer estates use rear parking courts and shared accesses that are tight for a long-wheelbase vehicle, which we check rather than assume. And immediately east, the SO32 villages at Botley, Curdridge and Durley are genuinely older — a Georgian square, flint-walled lanes and period cottages — where the approach decides the vehicle and where most of the probate and downsizing clearances in this corner of the borough come from.

Eastleigh Borough Council sets parking, bin collections and the chargeable bulky-waste pickup, and Hampshire County Council runs the recycling centres, which are permit-controlled for vans and trailers and take no trade waste. Everything we clear goes to a licensed transfer station and you keep the waste transfer note. As everywhere in Hampshire, we do not name a local crew, because no crew record exists for the county.

Hedge End at a glance

Housing stock
A small older core around St John's and the village centre; very extensive 1980s to present estate development across Grange Park, Dowd's Farm, Shamblehurst and Wildern; interwar and post-war housing at West End and Moorgreen; and period and village property at Botley, Curdridge and Durley in SO32
Access on the day
Hedge End is about as easy as Hampshire gets. Almost all of it was built from the 1980s onwards on estate layouts with drives, garages, parking courts and turning heads, so a Luton reaches the door and quotes turn on volume and floors. Two caveats: parking courts and rear-access blocks on the newer estates can be tight for a long wheelbase, and the SO32 village lanes at Botley, Curdridge and Durley are narrow with flint walls and limited turning. Eastleigh Borough Council sets parking, collections and bulky waste; disposal is Hampshire County Council's permit-controlled recycling centres, which take no trade waste.

What a fantastic job the staff at Hello Cleaners did on our End of Tenancy Clean. We were slightly concerned that the clean wouldn’t be to a high standard, but after the job was completed we can honestly say that our concern was unwarranted. The whole place was absolutely cleaned to the last detail as… Read in full →
