Oven Cleaning Cost UK 2026: Real Prices and What You Actually Get

Written by Sarbaz Hassan, Founder · Reviewed

What professional oven cleaning costs in the UK in 2026, what a dip-tank clean includes, when it pays for itself at the end of a tenancy, and how to judge a quote.

£

A professional oven clean is one of the cheapest jobs in home care and one of the most misquoted. Prices swing from £55 to well over £200 depending on the appliance, the method and whether anyone is actually taking the door apart. This guide sets out real 2026 UK pricing, what should be included at each tier, and how to tell a genuine deep clean from a wipe-down.

What oven cleaning costs in 2026

Below are the ranges we see across the UK. Hello Services appliance cleaning starts from £65; London and the South East sit at the upper end of each band.

ApplianceTypical UK priceTime on site
Single oven£65 – £9560 – 90 min
Double oven£90 – £13590 – 150 min
Range cooker (5–6 burner)£135 – £2202.5 – 4 hrs
Hob only£25 – £45 as an add-on20 – 30 min
Extractor hood / filters£30 – £70 as an add-on30 – 45 min
Microwave or single-cavity combi£20 – £35 as an add-on20 min

Bundling is where the money is. A double oven, hob and hood booked together usually lands 20–30% below the same three jobs booked separately, because the technician only travels and sets up once. Our full rate card is on the prices page.

What a proper clean includes

The industry-standard method is a dip tank clean: the removable parts go into a heated tank of caustic-free solution in the van while the cavity is treated by hand. If a quote does not mention removable parts, you are buying a surface wipe.

  • Stripped and tanked: shelves, runners, side racks, fan cover, and the inner and middle door glass.
  • Cavity: hand-scraped carbon, degreased walls, roof and floor, element and fan cleaned around, not soaked.
  • Door: split where the design allows, so the film between the panes is removed rather than smeared.
  • Seals and controls: rubber seal cleaned without stretching, dials and fascia degreased.
  • Reassembly and test: everything refitted, oven run briefly to burn off residue, exterior polished.

Ask two questions when you take a quote: do you split the door glass, and are the racks tanked or hand-scrubbed on site. The answers separate a £65 clean from a £65 wipe.

When it pays for itself

Three situations make the spend obvious.

  1. End of tenancy. The oven is the single most-cited item in deposit disputes. A £75 clean protects a deposit that is typically five weeks'' rent. Read the full method in our 2026 end of tenancy playbook, and see what an inventory clerk checks in the cost guide.
  2. Selling or letting. Buyers open the oven. A degreased cavity reads as a maintained house; carbon reads as deferred maintenance everywhere else. Pair it with pre-sale cleaning before photography.
  3. Performance. Carbon on the fan cover and element skews heat distribution and holds smoke. If your oven has started smoking at 200°C or baking unevenly, that is usually residue, not a fault.

DIY versus professional

Supermarket oven cleaners are caustic gels: effective on light soiling, unpleasant to use, and they do nothing about the door glass or the inside of the fan housing. Budget three to four hours, gloves, and an open window. A professional carries the tank, the tooling to split a door safely, and insurance if a panel cracks — which is the real reason most people stop doing it themselves after one attempt.

What you should do yourself, between visits: wipe spills while the oven is still warm, line the base with a reusable liner, and pull the hob rings monthly. That stretches a professional visit from every six months to once a year.

How often

  • Heavy cooking, roasting weekly: every 6 months.
  • Average family use: every 9–12 months.
  • Light use, mostly hob and air fryer: every 18 months.
  • Rental property: at every changeover, without exception.

How to judge a quote

A trustworthy quote is fixed, itemised by appliance, and states the method. Be wary of hourly pricing on oven work — the incentive runs the wrong way — and of anyone quoting a range wider than about £40 without seeing photographs. Send a picture of the oven interior and the model; a good operator will price it firmly from that.
