What Gets Cleaned the Most? 30,000 UK Cleaning Jobs Ranked

End of tenancy cleaning appears in almost half our jobs. See which cleaning services are booked most, and which are booked together.

What do people in the UK pay cleaners to do most often? We counted every service in our job records: 30,099 completed cleaning jobs since 2016. The answer is clear. Moving home drives more cleaning than anything else, and many customers add extra services to the same booking.

The most booked cleaning services

The table shows how many jobs included each service across all years, and the median price paid in 2026. One job can include more than one service, so the totals add up to more than 30,099.

End of tenancy cleaning is the most cleaned job by a wide margin. It appears in almost half of all our jobs. Tenants want their deposit back, and landlords and agents need the property ready for the next tenant. Deep cleaning comes second, with more than 10,000 jobs. These are one-off cleans for homes that need more than a regular tidy: before a sale, after an illness, or simply a fresh start.

Carpet cleaning is the third most popular service and often sits inside a bigger booking. That is also why its median price looks high for one item. The figure usually covers a whole end of tenancy or deep clean with carpets added.

One in three jobs combines services

Of the jobs where we recorded the services, about 33% included two or more. More than 2,800 included three or more. The most common pairings are:

  • End of tenancy cleaning with carpet cleaning, because carpets are a common inventory check point.
  • End of tenancy or deep cleaning with oven cleaning, because ovens are one of the hardest items to get right yourself.
  • Deep cleaning with upholstery cleaning, for sofas and chairs that have built up dirt over years.

Booking these together is usually simpler than arranging separate visits, and the whole home is finished at once.

Where the cleaning happens

London accounts for about a third of our jobs. Outside London, these are the busiest areas in our records:

London10,128
West Midlands1,726
Surrey1,589
Scotland1,183

Beyond the top eight, several more areas each account for hundreds of completed jobs: Berkshire (858), Cambridgeshire (803), Essex (755), West Yorkshire (694), Buckinghamshire (545), Bristol (543) and East Sussex (540). Leicestershire, West Sussex, Oxfordshire, Wales and Nottinghamshire all pass 370 jobs each. The spread follows rental demand. Areas with many rented homes and a lot of moving have the most end of tenancy work. You can see local job counts and prices on each area page.

The busiest towns and neighbourhoods

Looking at individual towns rather than whole counties, these places have the most completed jobs in our records:

Outside London, Cambridge, Brighton and Reading lead, all places with large rental markets and a steady flow of tenants moving in and out. Inside London, the busiest neighbourhoods cluster in the south and east: Wandsworth, Battersea, Wimbledon and Fulham along the river, and Canary Wharf and Southwark to the east, where flat turnover is high.

What gets the most attention inside a home

Across these services, the same areas take the most effort again and again: kitchens (especially ovens, hobs and extractor hoods), bathrooms (limescale on taps, screens and tiles), carpets in bedrooms and hallways, and inside cupboards and appliances that are only reachable once a home is empty. That is why end of tenancy and deep cleans are priced by the size and condition of the property, not by the room alone. See our cleaning checklist for what is included.
