When Is the Busiest Time for Cleaning? What 30,000 Jobs Show

September is our busiest month and Friday our busiest day. See the seasonal, weekly and monthly cleaning patterns from 30,099 real jobs.

When is the busiest time of year for cleaning? We looked at our own job records to find out: 30,099 completed cleaning jobs across the UK. The patterns are clear. Some months bring more than twice the bookings of others. Some days of the week fill up much faster. And the end of each month has a rush of its own. If you know when demand peaks, you can book earlier and have more dates to choose from.

The busiest months of the year

This table covers jobs completed from 2019 to 2025, the full years where our records are most complete. It shows how many jobs fell in each calendar month and the median price paid.

October2,74311.0%£230
November2,1298.5%£232
December1,8837.5%£235

September and August are the busiest months, with almost 3,000 jobs each. Together, July to October account for 46% of all cleaning jobs. That is the tenancy season, when students move, families relocate before the school year and many rental agreements end. January is the quietest month, with less than half of September's bookings.

Prices hardly change through the year. Monthly medians stay between £220 and £235. Peak season does not push up the price per job. It just means fewer free dates. January's slightly lower median reflects smaller jobs, not discounts.

Which services follow the seasons most?

End of tenancy cleaning is the most seasonal service. 40% of all our end of tenancy jobs happen in July, August and September, compared with about 10% in December and January. Deep cleaning and carpet cleaning are steadier, but still busiest in late summer.

The busiest days of the week

Friday5,33317.7%£235
Saturday4,32214.4%£231
Sunday2,4888.3%£225

Friday is the busiest day, with almost 18% of all jobs. Many tenants move out at the end of the week, and landlords and agents want the property cleaned before a weekend handover or new tenancy. Monday and Thursday come next. Sunday is the quietest day, with about half the bookings of a weekday. Sunday jobs also have the lowest median price (£225), because weekend bookings are often smaller jobs that households fit around their own plans.

For end of tenancy cleaning, Friday and Monday are the busiest days, which matches move-out and move-in dates. Deep cleaning peaks on Friday, as people prepare for weekend guests or an event.

The busiest time of the month

We also counted the average number of jobs per calendar day, split by the part of the month.

Jobs by part of the month — average completed jobs per calendar day
Days of the monthAverage jobs per day
1st–7th11.9
8th–14th12.0
15th–21st11.9
22nd–27th12.3
28th–31st14.3

The first three weeks are almost identical, at about 12 jobs per day. The last days of the month are about 20% busier, at more than 14 jobs per day. Tenancies usually end on or around the last day of a month, so that is when move-out cleans pile up. For end of tenancy cleaning, 27% of all jobs fall between the 25th and the end of the month, even though those days are less than a quarter of the month.

How to use this when you book

  • Moving out in late summer? Book as soon as you know your date. July to October is when dates go fastest.
  • Moving at month end? The last few days of any month are the most in demand. Pick a date a few days earlier if your tenancy allows it.
  • Flexible? Midweek days (Tuesday and Wednesday) and the middle of the month have the most availability.
  • Planning a deep clean? January to May is the quietest stretch, so it is a good time for a spring clean or a one-off refresh.

Prices stay much the same in every season, so booking early is about getting the date you want, not about saving money. See our prices page for current rates, or find your local area.
