How booking works

  1. Talk to us privately

Call 020 8124 1823 about clutter, rooms and access. If comfortable, email photos or video to info@helloservices.co.uk, excluding personal documents and other people. We listen without judgement.

  2. Agree the clean-up and quote

Agree retained items, sorting, cleaning, booked removals and reorganisation. Flag sharps, pests, contamination or unsafe access for separate assessment. Check the quote and exclusions; nothing is discarded without consent.

  3. A discreet, fully equipped team

We bring equipment and products for the agreed work, protect retained belongings, clean accessible surfaces and complete booked removals or reorganisation. Together we review the checklist and any specialist follow-up.

  • Assess unstable piles; keep walking routes clear

Unsafe structures, sharps, pests and contamination need specialist assessment.

  • Wipe accessible furniture, shelves, skirting and radiators
  • Clean doors, switches and agreed interior glass
  • Vacuum carpets; clean suitable floors and exposed spaces
  • No refurbishment or restoration

Extraction, upholstery, heavy furniture moving and exterior windows need separate agreement.

Item removals — when booked

  • Confirm approved bags, furniture and bulky items
  • Separate kept belongings before loading
  • Agree volume, disposal arrangements, access and charges
  • Separate electrical items, chemicals and special waste

Hazardous waste needs separate assessment.

Practical support, not treatment or guaranteed prevention.

Benefits of a considerate hoarder clean-up

Reclaim usable space without pressure to discard valued belongings.

Reclaim usable rooms

Agreed sorting restores access to beds, seating and kitchen surfaces.

Clearer access

Fewer obstacles improve movement; serious fire risks need fire-service advice.

Reach covered surfaces

Decluttering exposes floors and fittings for intensive cleaning, rather than cleaning around piles.

Keep control

Keep-and-review categories protect possessions. Booked reorganisation supports daily use; it does not replace mental health care.

  • ★★★★★Verified customer
“A lovely team who worked well together. Friendly and professional. I’ve yet to closely inspect the finished work as I’m waiting for the carpets to dry fully. They look really clean and the cleaners went the extra mile to clean the hall rugs too. They did miss some of the skirting boards and door frame tops, but willingly attended to these when it was noted. The hourly rate per person worked out rather high at just under £30 (I’d expect a maximum of £20) which makes me less likely to use the service for future interim cleaning. But, if on close inspection, everything is as clean as it looks so far, I’m happy to recommend Hello Services for a one off deep clean.”

“The team were courteous, worked well and friendly. They did mention about regular cleans but unfortunately the price was extremely high. But the service you provided for the job in hand was fine. Thank you.”

Hoarder Cleaning in York: local guide

For a townhouse near the walls or a South Bank terrace, plan where retained belongings will stay during cluttered house cleaning. Tell us about parking arrangements, visitor permits and rooms to leave untouched.

01

Keep shared belongings clearly identified

In a York student house, separate each person's possessions before decluttering help begins. Label coursework, documents and items belonging to absent housemates. For apartment cleaning, agree an indoor sorting area rather than moving piles into communal spaces. Discreet cleaning can start with the rooms you feel comfortable discussing.

02

Match removals to the right route

Plan furniture removal separately from intensive cleaning. York's bulky waste rules cover domestic households, not commercial waste; crews will not enter homes or collect soiled furnishings. Identify an accessible outdoor collection spot within your property, not public space. Any booked removals by our team need their own assessed arrangements.

03

Plan recycling and safer access

During a hoarding clean-up, keep retained paperwork apart from recycling. York recycling guidance requires paper and cardboard separate from other materials. Prioritise usable exits when planning thorough cleaning. The council's fire safety guidance signposts home fire safety visits for advice and escape planning, independently of our cleaning service.

Frequently asked questions

Can bulky collection take bagged clutter?

No. Council bulky collections exclude bagged household waste. For rubbish removal planning, distinguish ordinary household rubbish from furniture before choosing disposal arrangements.

Can I drive items to Hazel Court?

For your own household items, check acceptance requirements first. York's recycling centre information says vehicle visits to Hazel Court require an appointment.

What about our apartment's shared bins?

For flat decluttering, avoid leaving overflow beside bins. Council bin guidance says loose waste and bulky items beside communal bins will not be collected.

How do we protect sentimental belongings?

Before household sorting, nominate a clearly marked keeping area for photographs, letters and collections. Flag anything uncertain for discussion rather than treating it as rubbish.

Who can advise on escape routes?

The council fire safety page directs residents to Fire and Rescue Service home visits. They can offer fire safety advice and help devise an escape plan.

Should I check a paid waste collector?

Yes. York's waste responsibility advice says anyone paid to take waste away must be a licensed waste carrier; check with the Environment Agency.
