Hythe in practice

Hythe and the Waterside are a strip of settlements down the western shore of Southampton Water served by one main road, and that geography decides how we schedule rather than how we load. Refinery and marine-industry shifts put predictable pressure on that road at set times, so a job at Blackfield or Fawley is planned as a single early run instead of two trips across the day. The ferry from Hythe Pier takes foot passengers, not vans, so it never shortens a removal.

The properties themselves are mostly straightforward. Dibden Purlieu, Butts Ash, Holbury and Blackfield are post-war and later housing with drives, garages and turning space, built in large part around refinery employment, and they supply steady family removals, garage clearances and end-of-tenancy work. The older centre near the pier is narrower with short-stay parking, and the southern end at Langley, Exbury and Calshot is forest-edge and waterside, on lanes with loose grazing animals where the vehicle is chosen for the approach.

New Forest District Council sets parking, collections and the chargeable bulky-waste pickup, and Hampshire County Council's recycling centres need a permit for a van, pick-up or trailer and take no trade waste from any contractor. Clearances therefore leave through a licensed transfer station with the waste transfer note. Where a couple of bulky items would be cheaper on the council collection, we will say so rather than quoting a full clearance.

Hythe at a glance

Housing stock
A Victorian and Edwardian core around the High Street and the pier; interwar and post-war semis and bungalows through Dibden Purlieu and Butts Ash; large post-war estate development at Holbury and Blackfield built around refinery employment; and forest-edge and waterside property at Langley, Exbury and Calshot
Access on the day
The Waterside is a long, narrow strip with one main road down it, so the plan here is about the run rather than the street. Hythe's own centre near the pier is narrow with short-stay parking; Dibden Purlieu, Butts Ash, Holbury and Blackfield are conventional post-war housing with drives, garages and turning space; and the southern end at Calshot and Exbury is forest-edge and waterside, with narrow lanes and open-forest roads where ponies and cattle graze loose. Refinery shift traffic on the main road is a genuine timing factor. New Forest District Council sets parking, collections and bulky waste; disposal is through Hampshire County Council's permit-controlled recycling centres, which accept no trade waste.

Common questions

Hythe questions, answered.

  • Which parts of Hythe do you cover?

Every address in SO45, plus the surrounding Hampshire villages and neighbouring Totton, Southampton, Lymington, New Milton. There is no travel surcharge inside that area.

  • Do you work on Hythe's type of housing?

Yes. A Victorian and Edwardian core around the High Street and the pier; interwar and post-war semis and bungalows through Dibden Purlieu and Butts Ash; large post-war estate development at Holbury and Blackfield built around refinery employment; and forest-edge and waterside property at Langley, Exbury and Calshot We size the crew, the van and the kit to the property rather than quoting one flat template for the whole county.

  • Where will the crew park in Hythe?

We confirm the loading point with you when the job is booked, so nothing is decided on the doorstep on the day.

  • How quickly can you get to SO45?

Most Hythe jobs are booked within two to three days, and we hold same-week slots for end-of-tenancy cleans and clearances tied to a fixed check-out or completion date.

What a fantastic job the staff at Hello Cleaners did on our End of Tenancy Clean. We were slightly concerned that the clean wouldn’t be to a high standard, but after the job was completed we can honestly say that our concern was unwarranted. The whole place was absolutely cleaned to the last detail as… Read in full →

Izabel and her assistant came to clean our Southampton flat last Saturday prior to our new tenant moving in. She was punctual, professional and extremely efficient, and deep cleaned everywhere to an extremely high standard. We cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you Izabel!
